Anyone found anywhere you can order food online?

I know all the supermarket delivery are fully booked but, but I was hoping I might be able to buy something online!

We're on day 5 of isolation and can see that by next week we're going to be eating some weird combinations! The fresh milk ran out today and we'll be out of fresh veg in a few days. I just want to buy a little bit of stuff to make next week more beareable, especially for the DC. And also so we don't totally eat everything in the house if possible!

I tried Amazon Pantry, they still had some stuff I wanted when I had a look the other day but I think I've missed the boat as now I can't find enough there to justify the spend. If you want chocolate or condiments, thought, worth a try! There's a minimum £15 charge and they add on £3.90 delivery fee.

I discovered you can order food off normal Amazon. There's some stupidly expensive stuff (like £17 for a bag of crisps I kid you not!). But aside from that there's some other stuff like particularly if you're happy to buy large multipacks (and share it with your neighbours maybe?). Lots of diabetic jam (i.e. low sugar).

I bought some chocolate and a jam.

There are lots of artisan shops selling pasta for a five or whatever. Too pricey for me! And I found some discount shops but they only have weird stuff in.

I tried Boots - they have lots of vegan treats in and overpriced snacks.

I tried veg box schemes but they're all fully booked.

Is there anywhere else I can try? I was thinking there might be some shops that don't primarily sell food that might still have some stock in. Any ideas gratefully received!

Deliveroo and the milkman though the milk company are not taking on new customers at present. The local M&S BP garage shop deliver food too.

The Real Junk Food Project is providing £5 or £10 Freegan boxes for anyone in Leeds/Bradford/Wakefield to buy, as well as isolation boxes. Links are in the article towards the bottom.

Viking Direct have chocolate and soft drinks for OK prices and tea and coffee for expensive prices. Mostly in large packs. Plus tissues and hand towels etc (out of toilet paper).

I bought some chocolate the kids like, a 24 pack of the fizzy drink DP likes (the smallest pack they sold!) and some tissues as we're about to run out of toilet paper and I can't find it anywhere!

Also some printer paper as the kids have been using loads of it and some new pens for them.

It's something to cheer the kids up anyway. Wasn't cheap but wasn't total rip off prices like Amazon either.

It doesn't say when we'll get them, just that they can't guarantee their usual 24 hour service.

I'd check any farm shops in say a 10-15 mile radius of you, a couple near us have doubled their delivery distance.

We have also had a couple of local wholesalers open to the general public offering walk-in and delivery. One of ours is a general food wholesaler and has added other non food staples to their range.

Dryadia · 24/03/2020 06:37

One of our farm shops showed photos on facebook local group. Full fruit & veg shelves. They said they had good supplies of staples too.

You can still get orders delivered by niche / world cuisine shops online, or at least could yesterday. Scandinavian/ polish / Asian etc. They may have some basics like oats pasta etc.

Dryadia · 24/03/2020 08:32

Have you tried Allplants.com They were still taking new customer a day or so ago?

whatdayisitandotherquestions · 24/03/2020 10:01

Dryadia that looks lovely but I can't afford to buy subscription prepared meals. I need to get a lot more than 6 meals for 2 out of £70.

Looks great for those who can afford it though.

I registered for Morrisons about 4 days ago and got a slot for 7 April. Filled my trolley and registered my bank card. I logged in a few mins ago and it says my basket is empty, and I have no orders pending!
Just tried to re login and now can’t even do that. ☹️

I bought and easiyo yogurt maker and sachets. Each sachet makes 1 kg of yogurt and only needs water. I bought mine from Amazon but ethical superstore had some and some other bits of food in stock to get free delivery.

I had a feeling we would be on lockdown so yesterday afternoon I logged into Iceland just to see. I found a cancelled slot for today at 3-5. I bought all my sisters and my Easter eggs, lots of meat and supplies for our Easter dinner. I am on immunosuppressants so really don't want anybody to be going shopping in my house as we have already been very careful for 2 weeks. We are very lucky we have everything we need as I've been ready for zombies for years. . I found eggs on a local fb group, 60 eggs and a sack of spuds for £15 delivered which is amazing. My sister and I split them.

It is worth stalking Iceland's website. People have pre booked but can and do cancel. As awful as it sounds, some people that have over ordered will be facing financial issues and may cancel or reduce the amount of crates they have ordered. I hope you get lucky op.
