Fancy fish & chips for tea. There was a thread about this before I think but just wondering if folks are still getting Chinese etc?

I'm sorry I just don't get how we are being told no to go walking about within 2 metres of people because it is airborne yet they can breath, couch sneeze into my food which I then eat and I'll be fine??

Because we don't put food up our noses?

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 22/03/2020 17:54

I wonder if people realize they have been in danger of catching viruses and diseases their whole life not just since covid 19 in 2020. Hand washing and sensible basic hygiene has always been the way to avoid this .
It's fine to have a takeaway as in its the same risk it's always been - practise good hygiene and you'll be fine. Leave it on the side for 2 days and eat it lukewarm, you'll get it .
The panic over this is more dangerous than the disease

Horehound · 22/03/2020 18:01

@adaline no we do t out it up our nose but we do eat it and molecules can easily be inhaled then.

Anyway, people going on about handwashing and stating what they do. So you take the packet out and put it on the kitchen unit, pour the stuff onto your plate, put the packaging in the bin then go take your plate but have you wiped your kitchen unit?

People are wiping down their shopping now.
Also carrying the bag and opening the house door, then it's on the door handles too.

But nevermind. I hope you don't get it. It's a risk I'm not taking although I wouldn't be getting one anyway because it was our new years resolution for no takeaways for a year. I'm thinking of the money im saving! Heh

Do you not watch the news? Why ask mumsnet. Restaurants no, take aways yes!

Yes, ours are wiped 4-5 times a day. We had a takeaway this evening. Food went straight on our clean plates, packaging in the bin, hands washed and surfaces wiped before we sat down to eat with our clean cutlery.

Don't go if you don't want, but the government has made it quite clear that we can get takeaways.

Greenpop21 · 22/03/2020 18:04

I think take away a have been left open because some people can’t cook or are unable. Personally, I can do no I won’t be ordering takeaway.

Horehound · 22/03/2020 18:19

@adaline they've also made it clear parks being open is good for our health rather than the chance of contracting coronavirus in them. I don't trust that either.
I'd rather be risk adverse tbh because I don't much fancy what's going on in Italy happening to me!

Greenpop21 · 22/03/2020 18:22

If people moved away from paths it would help. Get some wellies(online) and distance yourselves!

Tootletum · 22/03/2020 18:27

Yeah, don't need money if you're dead, but since you're about 99% likely to be alive, might be nice to support some business that will otherwise not survive this. You can not get a takeaway but order some shoes for your kids online and forget to wash your hands after touching the packaging. It's nearly impossible to avoid all risk, the whole exercise is just about minimising risk.

Notso · 22/03/2020 18:31

We're having one. I don't see it as any more risky than buying packaged food from the supermarket and bringing it home.

Horehound · 22/03/2020 18:31

@tootletum business will get government support so it's kind of a moot point. 🤷

adaline · 22/03/2020 18:34

Yes, and quite right too! People should be able to exercise freely so long as they remain at a distance from each other.

CarolHasAnotherUTI · 22/03/2020 18:34

So far, some businesses will get government support.

Hopefully it will be extended to all, but it's not a given at this stage.

Horehound · 22/03/2020 18:47

@adaline yea, but they don't. So if they can't stay 2m apart do you think they are washing their hands all the time? Following the rest of the guidance? I don't!
