Why are you a terrible mum today? *lighthearted*

Ds is crying on his bed because I won’t let him watch any more YouTube.... apparently I’m the worst mum ever, and my alternatives of Lego or painting have ruined his day.

Any one else a shit mum?! We are on day 2 of isolation here, things can only get better right?!

DS1 is playing on the playstation in his pjs.
DS2 is still in bed.

Homeschool will start next week.

Of course in their eyes this makes me a good mum. Grin

FrenchFancie · 20/03/2020 12:25

Urgh day two of homeschooling for us and Dd refused to work so I ended up shouting at her. Not awesome at all.
It’s going to be a really long few months!!

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 20/03/2020 12:25

I might give in and let him back on YouTube so I can mumsnet in peace then.... if It’s good enough for the mini scamanders, it’s good enough for me (and I was getting twitchy about the painting anyway!)

3 year old is currently searching for her Frozen crayons that I'm pretty sure I put in the bin last week!

SpiltMilk100 · 20/03/2020 12:30

DS is in the bath whilst I lie on the bed mumsnetting after we've spent the morning in our PJs. And he's already had far too much iPad this week.

SpiltMilk100 · 20/03/2020 12:31

He wants to get the playdoh out after lunch but I don't think I can bare it Sad

BogOffWinter · 20/03/2020 12:39

Because we’re on day 1 of isolation, I feel like shit and can’t walk through to the kitchen to make cheese toasties for lunch. This is so unfair that DS1 is crying in his room Sad

HeyYah · 20/03/2020 12:44

Instead of doing the mountain of homework that is arriving on a daily basis I am teaching them life skills actually cooking me breakfast, lunch and tea

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 20/03/2020 12:45

For insisting they didn't shout food orders to their father when he's on a business call, especially when I'm in the same room and here. I'm evil apparently

raffle · 20/03/2020 12:48

I only had 3 Jaffa cakes left so I cut one in half and gave them one and a half each. Which led to them both crying and wailing. It was a cut up Jaffa cake I gave them not a cut up slug 🙄🙄

cookiemonster5 · 20/03/2020 12:51

I'm about to make my 3 year old have a nap so me and the older 2 kids can get a break. I'll be a bad mum as soon as he realises what I'm doing lol.

CatFaceCats · 20/03/2020 12:58

Because I let them put the sprinkler on in the garden and play in it! I live in NE Scotland and it’s 6 degrees.
They bloody loved it though, so I suppose that makes me awesome in their eyes!
I did have hot choc and cosy towels for when they gave up after 10 mins!

Mycoronausername · 20/03/2020 12:59

I stopped my one year old from a) eating his nappy cream and b) flinging himself off the bed while throwing a tantrum about the cream. 🤦🏻‍♀️

TwoKidsStillStanding · 20/03/2020 13:01

I hung the laundry up. My 9 week old thinks I am terrible as he was only offered the choice of sling or lying on the bed while I did it.

I’m going to be in trouble with the 4 year old when he asks to go and buy a doughnut on the way home from school as the bakery part of Tesco is closed (and I don’t want to go in unnecessarily). Fortunately we have treats at home for him so he’s a lucky little boy but it’s a little reminder of how things have changed in the last few weeks.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 20/03/2020 13:03

Honestly, you are all terrible!

I am concerned though @raffle - why did you not eat the 3rd yourself?! You need to keep your strength up during these tough times!

Ds has now started his Harry Potter Lego and is sighing dramatically every time he builds another section. Poor poppet.

I'm banning phones and computer games during school hours...well I will be when they're off school next week.

No idea how that will go down

swizzells2003 · 20/03/2020 13:07

DS4 and I are camped out in the bedroom watching tv while DH is working in the living room ...... we have McDonald's on the way for lunch..... we have been out for a walk this morning and done some colouring. Like many home schooling starts next week

Coffeeandnutrients · 20/03/2020 13:07

I sang too loud when DS wasn’t expecting it. Hysterical shock crying from a 5 month old Hmm.

parrotonmyshoulder · 20/03/2020 13:09

‘I’m bored of you, mummy’ and ‘Daddy’s much better’ - well daddy is a sodding doctor so you’re stuck with me for months, pal!
Also ‘stop being so big’ - admittedly he was delirious with fever when he said that (50 times in an hour...)

managedmis · 20/03/2020 13:11

DS is on YouTube watching zz top
DD is watching Ben and Holly

I'm mumsnetting working

PorpentinaScamander · 20/03/2020 13:13

DS2 would love to be building Harry Potter Lego. But hes built all his sets. I guess I could break them so he can build them again

I'd have eaten all the jaffa cakes myself Grin

Both DS' are now playing and laughing together. (Albeit on the playstation) this is virtually unheard of!

vampirethriller · 20/03/2020 13:16

Because I won't let her beat the dog round the head with the remote. No, not even the DVD remote which is smaller, it still hurts dogs.
Full on lying on the floor sobbing.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 20/03/2020 13:22

Made my DD3 her favourite cake for her birthday. Smile

Unfortunately the cake is DD2's favourite. DD3 is not keen.

Champion of Parents

Also bought her mini donuts to take to school. Unfortunately forgetting she gave up chocolate for Lent.

Feeling very secure in status of Champion of Parents.

HenSolo · 20/03/2020 13:23

First day of proper isolation here. I wrote up a schedule using rulers and different colours and everything. Included no tv in school hours.
We are currently watching CBeebies. Schedule has not worked ON DAY ONE

Office365 · 20/03/2020 13:29

Haha, (first full) Day 1 of isolation (Tuesday gone) was 7 yr old dd lolling around sobbing on the landing, for a good 40 minutes, because I asked her to get dressed!
Then on Day 3 we had another meltdown because I pointed out she wouldn't be able to go to her favourite activity for two weeks yes I know it'll be a lot longer! I'll cross that bridge when we come to it
