Why are you a terrible mum today? *lighthearted*

Ds is crying on his bed because I won’t let him watch any more YouTube.... apparently I’m the worst mum ever, and my alternatives of Lego or painting have ruined his day.

Any one else a shit mum?! We are on day 2 of isolation here, things can only get better right?!

All of you attempting any form of homeschooling are HEROES! Ds broke up last week for what would have been 5 weeks, so I’m letting myself off the hook till mid April. By then we may of killed each other anyway so I never have to tackle it BlushGrin

My toddler was not impressed that I gave him a bowl of mixed veg for lunch Blushit's for his own good!

Arrakis · 20/03/2020 13:37

Because I won't instantly stop listening to calls I'm in for work when she deigns to address me for important queries such as 'Is there anything to eat?' when the cupboards/fridge/freezer are full of food for once.

Because I expect her to clear up after herself in the kitchen once food prep has been achieved.

Because I woke her up this morning, as she asked me to.

Because supermarkets have no cous cous and this is some sort of human right.

To be fair, if you gave me just a bowl of mixed veg for lunch I would look slightly askance at it. And I like veg.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 20/03/2020 13:41

I crocheted a coronavirus germ and keep throwing it at the kids shouting "urgh you've caught coronavirus".
Possibly insensitive to some, but I'm trying to make the whole situation a little more lighthearted and a bit less scary for the dc and we cope best with humour

AnotherMurkyDay · 20/03/2020 13:45

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt

I really, really want a crochet Coronavirus now.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 20/03/2020 13:46

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt I’d buy one of those to throw at Ds too! You should sell them Grin

Hippo, I love this!!

I am a terrible mother because balloons bounce away when tiny DS tries to grab them. This is EXTREMELY distressing and Something Should Be Done.

Arrakis · 20/03/2020 13:52

I crocheted a coronavirus germ and keep throwing it at the kids shouting "urgh you've caught coronavirus".

That is top parenting. You should get an award. Or at the very least a gold star.

PorpentinaScamander · 20/03/2020 13:54

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt do you have a pattern? Please say you do. I can add it to my list of things I am definitely going to finish making Grin

I'm always a day 3 mum

I bleached DD2's window (small amount of black mould had started). I normally do bleachy jobs when they're at school.

a) it smells bad
b) the open window was making her cold
c) my hands still have a hint of bleach making me not nice to cuddle.

And I've hidden the wotsits so she can't help herself and eat then all in one go.

Strangely I'm not in trouble for getting them off screens to do do music practice, tidying up their rooms or colouring/art. I think they're bored (We've been self isolating because of DD1's cold all week)

TeaAddict235 · 20/03/2020 14:12

The 6 year old spent the first morning running about screeching at ear deafening levels.

I told him to shut that noise up.
Felt bad telling him to shut up. I usually think it, but don't say it.

The 3 year old is now following him around saying 'shut up' Confused what have I done??

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 20/03/2020 14:16

Here's the pattern for a crochet covid-19. Enjoy making you kids catch him 😂

raskolnikova · 20/03/2020 14:24

DD had tantrums on the kitchen floor today because I wouldn't let her have the sweeping brush. I suppose I should be grateful that she likes sweeping so much.

PS The crochet covid is amazing! I want one!

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/03/2020 14:29

I think I'll come off pretty well out of today as I've said we can watch HP #2. DS has just finished the book, DD's favourite series and there'll be pop corn and pizza.

Ask me again on Monday when we're trying to juggle home schooling and both parents still working in some way or next Friday when we've done a full week Hmm

Good luck!

Finallyatooth · 20/03/2020 14:48

I'm a bad Mum because I nagged him to get his uniform on this morning. For what is possibly his last day of school in months.

It took him 3 minutes to put one shoe on. 3 minutes. I wasn't even shouting.

PenguinsOnParade · 20/03/2020 14:50

I woke my teenager up 5 minutes before her alarm was due to go off. Those extra 5 minutes would have meant everything of course. Grin

JigsawsAreInPieces · 20/03/2020 14:58

You are awesome. Grin

I just endured a 20 minute tantrum because my 3 year old asked for an apple so I took him to pick his own one (NEVER EVER pick an apple yourself even if it's the last one, the toddler MUST select it himself).

He changed his mind and asked for a yogurt so I let him pick his yogurt (see above rule re:apples).

He then decided he didn't want the yogurt and wanted me to put it back in the fridge. But that would involve him letting go if it and that was not an option. I took it off him and put it back.

Then he wanted an apple again but refused to pick it himself or let me pick it. I gave him the choice of getting an apple or sitting on the naughty step. He chose the step and sat himself down.

Now the tantrum is over he is having a cuddle intermittently asking for an apple or a yogurt but I can't go through it all again so I'm refusing due to the fact it's now too close to tea time.

I'm having a gin with tea.

Arrakis · 20/03/2020 16:23

Now a bad mum because I won't let my child go to town tomorrow to buy a pencil sharpener and suggested they look in their vast stash of stationery, as apparently they have looked EVERYWHERE.

Ah, as I typed that, now a bad mum for 'making a face' because they came back brandishing a pencil sharpener triumphantly, less than 1 minute after the previous conversation.

lucysmam · 20/03/2020 17:28

I made dd go to school for the last day.

Dd is 13...she cried because most of her mates' parents said there was no point going but I pointed out she has many many weeks stretching ahead of her for doing some bits of school work & spending a fair bit of time lazing about.

BertieDrapper · 20/03/2020 17:30

Cos I wouldn't play dolls with DD... to be fair she took it rather well but I felt terrible.

All I hear at the moment is "will you play with me" with full on puppy dog eyes... I just can't bare it!!!!
We are on day 8 of isolation 😫😫😫😫

Dk20 · 20/03/2020 18:59

Because I let ds watch way too much YouTube today.
This first week of homeschooling while wfh has really stressed me out, I just couldn't do it any more and needed some peace and quiet to get stuff done
