Went to A&E with chest pains. Have had to wait hours but really appreciate all that has been done. Final test was an X-ray and then I thought I could go home. suddenly everything’s changed. Have offered my son (who I had to bring with me) food and juice. My DR is nowhere to be seen. I’m honestly terrified here - what’s happening? Help

That sounds very worrying I must say, but try and hold onto the fact that you are in the right place, and something is being done.
Sending you a big handhold .

SeaToSki · 07/03/2020 20:07

I’ll hold your hand. How old is your son? It is actually good that they are doing a CT scan, it means that they will probably work out what is causing the chest pain. So many people never manage to get to the bottom of it. Do you have anyone you can call to come and get your DS for a bit?

Thank you. I don’t unfortunately. Am trying to hold on to the fact that I’m in the right place - it’s good, right? E is 7 nearly 8 - he’s been the best boy.

Hand hold here for you. Keep us updated.

BUNNIESandBISCUITS · 07/03/2020 20:13

Hang in there.

ZoeandChandon · 07/03/2020 20:16

Good luck bananafish, it’s good that they are sorting out all the tests in one go. My friend has had to wait nearly a year to get a cat scan. Hoping you get an answer and they can sort u out swiftly and easily.

Mrspimplepopper · 07/03/2020 20:16

Hi OP dont panic. Your in the right place to get sorted. Hopefully not long now

SeaToSki · 07/03/2020 20:17

Can you snag a nurse and ask her if there is someone who can sit with DS while you have your CT, or what you can do? Then talk it through with DS so he knows what to expect. Make sure all your devices are staying charged as much as possible, and hang in there. You are strong, you can do this.

RandomSaturday · 07/03/2020 20:18

I had similar a few months ago. To cut a long story short my chest pains were due to being very very low in vitamin D. As random as this is.

I hope all turns out ok.

Shookethtothecore · 07/03/2020 20:18

Your in the best place, stay calm and keep devices charged like pp said

Alonelonelyloner · 07/03/2020 20:24

Much strength to you OP! You're not alone.

HelpMeDrRanj · 07/03/2020 20:25

Sending a hand hold and lots of energy, your boy sounds like a star staying with you and calm all this time too! CT scan will hopefully show what the problem is, hope you get to the bottom of it and can get home soon

Nicecupofcoco · 07/03/2020 20:27

Hope all is OK op. Your in the right place.

Oohmegooliebird · 07/03/2020 20:27

They are probably doing the CT scan to rule out a blood clot on the lung. Don't be too worried- this is a common test and in most cases comes back as negative.

Keep talking here.

H1978 · 07/03/2020 20:29

Hope everything is alright and that you’re being well looked after Flowers

Salene · 07/03/2020 20:30

You will be fine, at least they are taking it seriously and proper checking you out

ScarlettDarling · 07/03/2020 20:34

Chances are that the x ray wasn't clear so they want to do a scan for a clearer picture. I was diagnosed with pneumonia following a scan. The x ray I'd had hadn't been clear enough to diagnose anything. Deep breaths op Flowers

Winter2019 · 07/03/2020 20:43

Hope it's nothing serious OP! Any update?

bananafish · 07/03/2020 20:47

You’re all stars - thank you. I appreciate it very much
ct scan done (the dye is a very weird feeling)
Waiting for the dr to come and talk to me now...

Good for you for not ignoring your chest pain. Many women ignore it or other less familiar signs of angina.

CT Scans can also look at your cardiac arteries for blockages (CT Angio) - if you're having one of those they'll give you medication to slow your heart rate a bit, and an IV contrast dye.

On the plus side, they're checking everything and you won't have to wait ages for tests. If they find something, they can deal with it quickly. If they don't, even better. And even if they do find something, many cardiac things are survivable. I'm now 21 years past my heart attack. Best wishes coming your way.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 07/03/2020 20:48

They're being thorough. Probably checking for any blockages or whatever. Hope the Dr comes to see you soon. We're here for as long as you need.

aibutohavethisusername · 07/03/2020 20:49

Yeah it is a weird feeling isn’t it? Hope you don’t have to wait too long.

Justsaynonow · 07/03/2020 20:51

Have you used any medication that could cause constriction of your arteries? Cold or migraine medication? or cocaine? Those can cause angina in people with clear arteries via vasospasm.

LoonyLunaLoo · 07/03/2020 20:54

Hoping you’re ok!
