What do you buy a toddler for Easter?

What's the thing nowadays? In my youth we got Easter eggs off everyone but everything is a big deal these days. What do you normally do for toddlers?

An Easter egg!

crystal1717 · 07/03/2020 20:51

Just rtft and I'm shocked. Your poor kids.
So many people saying they dont get anything!
Do they not get anything at Xmas either?
What will they say when they're asked about what they got for Easter? Nothing with sad little faces? How will they look back on their childhood? I never got any Easter eggs :'(
It's only one day. If they ever have chocolate (are you planning to ban it for life?) then this is the time.

crystal1717 I have never once in my life been asked what I got for Easter, and I’m pretty sure my children haven’t either. Surely the assumption is just that you get Easter eggs?
I get mine an egg. I thought that was what everyone did.

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/03/2020 20:54

Nobody on the thread said their children don’t get chocolate at Easter.

A bag of small, hollow chocolate eggs, hidden round the garden for the toddler to collect in a basket. Toddler gets to eat one egg and the rest are put into a bowl to decorate the table, and for the family to share.

We always used it as a good excuse to buy outdoor toys in time for the warmer weather.

@crystal1717

I may be a miser, but I need to be because my toddler gets so much from other relatives!

Last year she got 2 big eggs, a row of Kinder chocolate characters, a Lindt bunny and 3 medium sized eggs from my in-laws. DD was one years old at the time Hmm . My niece got even more because she got an equal amount for her other side of the family.

This year my in laws have been told (by their own son before I get the blame!) that they can get her one Lindt chocolate bunny only, any other chocolate will be eaten by DDs father and me. If they still feel the need to buy something they can buy her a sticker book.

Whatever egg comes with the sweets you like. Toddlers haven't figured out you get sweets with eggs and will be happy with the egg while you eat the sweets.

CherryPavlova · 07/03/2020 21:23

We didn't really buy anything. It would not have occurred to me to buy presents.
We always went away with another family so it was ' doing things' rather than buying things. It's the biggest celebration of the year so we made a huge fuss.
Making honey bunny biscuits, making table decorations for Easter Sunday, an Egg hunt, Simnel cake. Church in a foreign country. A big roast meal but lamb instead of turkey.

You must be on the wind up?

gruffalocrumbley · 07/03/2020 21:49

I'm planning to get the 18 month old I look after one of those dinosaur eggs that hatch when put in water, ill hide it in the garden for her to find, not sure she'll understand but I enjoy them 🤣🤣

Someone else's toddler - a book, it could be Easter themed if you feel that is necessary.
Your own toddler - something to do a mini treasure hunt in the living room/garden (not Cadbury mini eggs though as they are a choking hazard!)
