DH was away for work this week and mentioned he'd been to Tesco for a few bits. Just in case. It was still in the boot last night.

Fast forward to today. I said I'd like to pop to Costco to get some belly pork strips and we were running low on bog roll.
I nip to the loo and come back to a trolley full of cleaning stuff, kitchen roll and water.

Then had a little nap when we got home (medical issues exhausting me atm). DH unloaded the car.

Photos attached with what I woke up to. 'Scuse kitchen mess.

Balls, forgot to quote

like we're totally bloody expendable

Davros · 07/03/2020 14:38

babyshark we'll have to self isolate together and I can use all your supplies!!
I just went into Camden Town for a specific birthday gift for DD, I normally steer clear, only saw 4 face masks. The M&S has normal stick of everything

Oldraver · 07/03/2020 14:42

No loo roll to be had

Tell him it's his fault there's no toilet roll

ODFG! Just please. No more stockpiling!
Oldraver · 07/03/2020 14:44

Sorry should virtually no loo roll, I didn't see the small pike of Cushelle no one wanted

TSSDNCOP · 07/03/2020 14:50

At least you got the pork strips Hmm

gypsywater · 07/03/2020 14:54

What a selfish prick

PeterPanGoesWrong · 07/03/2020 15:05

That ‘sparkling ‘ water says Still on the side!

AtAt123 · 07/03/2020 15:14

All the people condemning stock piles.... piss off. I'm on chemotherapy and get every bug going. I have tonsillitis that is likely to turn into pneumonia right now . I also have kids that need to be fed even when I can't shop. Just in my larger I have enough ambient good to survive for 3 weeks. In my two freezers I have enough meat, veg, etc to last a month. I have 3x 18 loo rolls in stock at any one time.

It's not siding every body else. Is making sure that my family is ok. You want yours to be ok? Then buy extras that can be used and C replaced or donated to a food bank. But don't judge me, a single woman in benefits, for doing what is best for ME

JingsMahBucket · 07/03/2020 15:23

@WorraLiberty and others talking of concern for poor people: this is a Costco run. Most people on the breadline can’t afford to shop there anyway due to the large quantities and bulk nature anyway. @Babysharkdoodoodood and her husband aren’t snatching food out of poor people's mouths and toilet paper from under poor people’s asses. There’s no need to vilify them.

gypsywater · 07/03/2020 15:24

@AtAt123 do you give zero shits for other unwell people?

Shandied · 07/03/2020 15:25

That doesn't look like a costco @Oldraver

Shandied · 07/03/2020 15:26

@gypsywater there's literally nothing about @AtAt123s post that suggests that. Making sure you always have a stock of loo rolls in has no effect. It's people buying them now everyone wants some that causes issues. It's perfectly sensible to have a few bits in if you know you might have issues getting out and about at somepoint.

gypsywater · 07/03/2020 15:27

I wasnt talking to you?!

gypsywater · 07/03/2020 15:28

Her post is goddamn rude

Purplequalitystreet · 07/03/2020 15:32

It's just ridiculous. I've run out of hand wash and have just sent DP out with instructions not to come back until he finds a bottle!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/03/2020 15:33

I mean, what's best for me and my family personally is to carry on as normal, as I'm low risk and so is DS. I do not want schools to shut as I have no childcare and I need to go to work to keep a roof over my head. But I'm told that carrying on as normal is selfish as I'm putting others at risk. It's difficult to get an even balance.

heartonastring · 07/03/2020 15:36

Insensitive to post about it. Goady aswell.

mrsbyers · 07/03/2020 15:43

Pretty modest for a Costco stock up , we usually take two cars when we go as toilet rolls , kitchen rolls and cleaning stuff fills one car alone

Oh and it’s still water by the way

Shamazing · 07/03/2020 15:44

@AtAt123 You'll get people telling you you're out of order but I understand where you're coming from. You're already ill, you're bringing up your kids on your own, so I get it.

My issue is with those people stockpiling just because they can.

I hope your treatment goes well and you stay well. I'm 8 months out of chemo, I know how shit it is.

lazylinguist · 07/03/2020 15:47

what I'm ALSO sick of hearing, is able bodied healthy folks saying that it's only the old, disabled, chronically ill, and immunocompromised people who are at risk, like we're totally bloody expendable.

Stating facts about who is most at risk does not in any way mean that people think those groups are expendable. In the same way as talking about childhood illnesses doesn't mean you think children are expendable, and talking about illnesses which affect more women than men doesn't mean you think women are expendable. It's a fact not a prejudice.

Shandied · 07/03/2020 15:47

@gypsywater it's a public messageboard, I'm pretty sure everyone is posting to everyone. Prepping isn't the same as panic buying, it's no wonder people get defensive when they're being called selfish etc for sensibly buying a few extra bits over a long period of time for whatever reason.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 07/03/2020 15:48

The Buxton from Tesco is still. The water from Costco is sparkling. I drink tap.

Shamazing · 07/03/2020 15:50

The irony of someone posting this then going on to accuse someone else of being rude ...
