Can we have a positive thread about our DH/DPs?

Currently my DP is sat upstairs helping my DD (not his child) with her homework. He's explaining how to divide fractions patiently and clearly to her. He didn't shirk away when she asked him to help her, he dropped everything and sat with her (after gently chastising her about leaving it until bedtime 😂)

Sometimes I get a little depressed reading all the useless/abusive DH stories on here (probably because I had plenty to post myself when married to my ExH) but I'm feeling a little warm and fuzzy listening to the two of them right now.

Mine sofa danced to T. rex with both dds today (dd1 has a trex song for her new guitar piece)

He went to maccy ds to get me lunch as I'm quite ill and it's all I fancied.

Otherwise he's being a bit grumpy and annoying atm

bananallamas · 05/03/2020 20:45

Mine moved his work days around when our DD was born so he could share childcare and I could go back to work part time. He looks after her as much as I do and is totally competent, great father, gets her ready and packs her bag for their days out, I don't have to do anything at all when he's looking after her.

I read some threads on here and cannot believe how uninvolved some DHs are with their own children. I understand that some dads wish they could work less and spend more time with DCs but it's not possible for whatever reason. But there seem to be quite a lot of men who don't act like they really want to do any parenting ever.

My DH is amazing.
Tonight he made me my dinner and a cup of tea. He treats my son like his own. He does more housework than I do 🙈😂
And he’s so funny and kind and amazing 😍🥰

Dh was a SAHD when the DC were little. He now works at a school so he has school holidays off. He spends loads of time with the DCs even though they're older teenagers.

Dh also does all our laundry. I pretty much never have to load our washing machine but always have clean pants. He works two jobs, cooks at least twice a week and does most of the grocery shopping. He's also fit! I'm very lucky.

Bert2020 · 05/03/2020 21:01

I love my DH so much, I have morning sickness and today when he was working from home he heard me throw up and came to give me some water and a hug. He loves our daughter so much, will play anything & everything at any time. He is the most kind, patient and loving human.

vdbfamily · 05/03/2020 21:01

I came down this morning and my porridge and coffee were waiting ( freshly ground beans) I came home at 7 pm and there was a lovely meal waiting in the oven. He had now gone to collect our eldest from her job. His love language is definitely acts of service. We have been married 18 years and he has probably said I love you less than 18 times but he shows me it every day in so many ways. He also makes me laugh every day. LOVE HIM. 💜💚💙

Coffee in bed every morning without fail. Breakfast too while our son was a newborn.

LuluJakey1 · 05/03/2020 21:05

DH works long hours but spends as much time as he can with DC - baths them, puts them to bed, reads with them, takes them swimming, plays with them, is really patient and funny with them.
Great around the house - likes cooking, loads dishwasher, hoovers, irons, likes to go to supermarket.
Keeps me amused, is kind, funny, supportive and maddening at times. Best kisser and hugger ever.

purplemumster · 05/03/2020 21:07

We get married in 11 weeks and he's working so hard at work, helping plan the wedding and being an awesome dad to our dc, very lucky to have him

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 05/03/2020 21:08

My DH has worked 12 hour days for 6 days a week for 7 years now to support our children financially through university.

On top of that I have been getting progressively more unwell and for the last year have been unable to do anything at home (working takes everything I've got and all I can do is lay down once home) so he also does all of the cooking, cleaning and laundry on top of working.

stickerqueen · 05/03/2020 21:12

My husband is great he cooks our food most days he loves cooking. He does the school run, school meeting etc and he takes dd clothes shopping. He changes the most nappies. He gets up with the kids in the morning and makes them breakfast.
We have been together for 14 years and I have never had to do the washing up he likes to wash up.

addictedtotheflats · 05/03/2020 21:19

Nothing is ever too much for DP when its comes to DS. He never moans or refuses to do anything, whether that's rocking him to sleep at 3 am, bathing him as soon as he gets in from work, getting compressed hours at work to cover childcare. He is just such an amazing Dad.

SheWolfofFrance · 05/03/2020 21:20

What a lovely thread. I was thinking about starting one similar earlier

Mine has adjusted his work days to mean he can take and collect my eldest to school (his stepson) because I've got a nasty back injury and struggling to be mobile. He's also doing all the house work pretty much and the "heavy lifting" with our toddler and baby. I feel rather guilty about the situation but he is an absolute angel and refuses to listen to a word of it. It means he's not getting much sleep (dealing with the kids and even before my back issue got really bad he did 50/50 of the night's) and having to still fit in a full days work around all his "house and family" commitments.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 05/03/2020 21:21

He took my toddler on as his own and they have such a gorgeous bond. He does bath times so I get a break and can go off and do 30 mins of whatever for myself. Yeah he’s not perfect but he’s fab just as he is, and I wouldn’t want him to change.

lachy · 05/03/2020 21:24

My DH is a diamond. He's a fantastic dad (DD utterly adores him 😍) he's my best friend and aside from DD he's my favourite person to spend time with.

I'm fairly sure the feeling is mutual. We make a brilliant team.

pumpkinpie01 · 05/03/2020 21:32

My DH is so laid back and easy to live with , we never argue , he never questions what I spend our/his money on just leaves me to it, he works hard , he has so much patience with our ds6 who can be a handful at times. Tonight he has gone to do a one off night shift with no sleep beforehand (or he would have missed parents evening ) as we are trying to save . He is a brilliant stepdad too , such a good role model never raises his voice and does more than his fair share of housework. Love him to bits

ploddingdonkey · 05/03/2020 21:38

Mine tucked me in on the sofa today and made sure the blanket was properly wrapped around my toes and under my chin while I watched a film.

He also encouraged me to start an evening class because he wants me to have something just for myself. Knows that I'm a socially awkward penguin so it's great to have the activity to talk about to the other people.

jellycatspyjamas · 05/03/2020 21:40

I’ve been really poorly this week, my lovely DH has literally run everything - kids morning routine, school run, pick ups, dinner, bedtime while I’ve slept and tried to recover.

FireandFury · 05/03/2020 21:41

Morning bed coffee made for me
Will come shopping with me and wait patiently whilst I try on 1000 outfits
is amazing with our DD. So attentive and is always playing with her and teaching her new things
great cook and frequently surprises me with a candlelit dinner after a hard days work

MzHz · 05/03/2020 21:46

My oh runs a huge business, I lost a job in traumatic circumstances, when I caught a cold, he asked if I wanted him to stay home and look after me.

He is the perfect companion in all kinds of adventures, I utterly adore him and know he feels the same
We have both endured awful relationships before, abusers, narcs, God awful parents, and we both pinch ourselves having found one another.

Yes he snores like a fucking bear, but I actually love him so dearly that I couldn’t even take myself off to the spare room cos I’d miss the roaring bear... I prod and roll him instead.

If I can find this happiness, so can others in relationships like my old one, never give up hope, love yourself enough to never accept anything less that happiness and love

Jemmy360 · 05/03/2020 21:52

It's our 15 year anniversary today and I would not have wanted to spend that time with anyone else. We've had such a lot to deal with, but we always, always have each others back.
We are a good team and I love him dearly.

MaidofMuswell · 05/03/2020 21:54

This is such a nice thread! My DH and i have definitely had ups and downs but never because of him so much as working out how to adjust to being part of a team when both quite strongly individual people but during each down we've worked out how to make things better and I love him hugely. He plays brilliantly with our son, always brings me a diet coke when i;m watching tv and he knows too comfy to move but fancy one, is always calm and level headed and supportive when I get in a flap which is a lot, makes me laugh when I need it most and despite living on pies and ice cream and beers has the most amazing body and gorgeoys face ever.

Forestcantrun · 05/03/2020 21:58

Mine is just awesome. He's phenomenal at looking after us and works so hard.

KaptenKrusty · 05/03/2020 22:01

Been feeling a bit crap and run down - My husbands cooked every evening this week and has my dinner ready when I came in the door and made me up a lunch to take in each day. Now he’s just tidied up and is currently hoovering the whole flat 😍 while I continue to lie on the couch on a blanket 😂

ThisHereMamaBear · 05/03/2020 22:07

I've had a horrible cold this week. Dh stayed up very late and made me a really impressive costume for world book day.
