Where can I go in Wales?

Want to escape and clear my head for a few days. Looking for somewhere I can walk but not too isolated as I'll be on my own and want to feel safe etc. Some greenery and waterfalls maybe. A few shops and cafes to potter around in would be nice?

Go to Gower. It is beyond beautiful, the beaches are all incredible and the walks are lovely but not too isolated.

MaliceOrgan · 02/03/2020 19:45

Portmerion - they quite often do special deals out of season and it's really nice this time of year before the tourists take over. Also has nice walks etc

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 02/03/2020 19:54

Porthmadog. Walks, Portmeirion, Glaslyn estuary etc. Or Llanberis for Snowdon.

Tiggles · 02/03/2020 19:55

Ruthin
Can drive to Moel Famau (walk offas dyke) and Llandegla one planet adventure has beautiful walks (including a lake) and cafe.
Could also get to llandudno and Llangollen.

CottonSock · 02/03/2020 19:59

I prefer Conwy to llandudno

missmouse101 · 02/03/2020 20:08

Crickhowell is all ok now after the flooding. Only Bridge Street is still closed. I second Hay on Wye though OP!

NeverYouMind123 · 02/03/2020 20:28

Llandudno booked :-) thanks everyone x

Enjoy your break. Flowers

DanielSpaniel · 02/03/2020 20:32

If you’re looking for a nice walk to a waterfall, head to Aber Falls - it’s about 10 mins away from Llandudno.

cobwebfew · 02/03/2020 20:46

Gamble66 I was about the say the same about Barmouth 😂
Pembrokeshire, anglesey, llanberis, llangollen, beaumaris, beddgelert are all beautiful places in wales 😄

Troels · 02/03/2020 21:48

Have a lovely time in Llandudno. When you get to the top of the Ome, wave to me, I can see the Orme from my livingroom window. Fabulous view.

NeverYouMind123 · 02/03/2020 21:55

@troels will do 😊 x

@cobwebfew 😁 as a localish I know its great for walks but its ugly and grey plus not many good cafes or shops at the moment - the beach is great and we walk the dogs there but there are so many 'nicer' places for holidaying

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/03/2020 23:44

I only meant because it’s a bit of a time warp place.

Gwenhwyfar · 03/03/2020 19:45

Here's a photo of Barmouth bridge. It's an amazing train ride.

OP if you like Italian food, mama Rosa in Craig-y-don is a fab little Italian bistro. It’s just two mins down the road from Llandudno, near venue Cymru.
Romeos in town is also good for Italian and the cottage loaf in town is great for quality pub food.
Walks are also good up the little orme as well as the great orme.
Bodnant gardens / Penrhyn castle have nice grounded walks. (Both have been posting updates since the flooding all last month though).

Newport Pembrokeshire

NeverYouMind123 · 03/03/2020 20:15

I would love to go to Pembrokeshire another time but it's too far this time. It does look beautiful

Colwyn Bay is beautiful, I daydream about retiring there and just sitting looking at the sea everyday!

AdaColeman · 03/03/2020 21:53

Osborne House Hotel on Llandudno prom does a lovely afternoon tea if you fancy a bit of pampering! Cake Brew

devildeepbluesea · 03/03/2020 21:56

I'm South Walian born and bred, but never done justice to North Wales. Hope it's wonderful for you, a friend has just been and confirmed it is beautiful!

Gwenhwyfar · 04/03/2020 20:59

"Colwyn Bay is beautiful"
Confused
Do you maybe mean the view of the sea? Because the high street is not beautiful.

Troels · 04/03/2020 21:59

Colwyn Bay is beautiful, I daydream about retiring there and just sitting looking at the sea everyday!
Only if you can transport yourself back to the 60's when the pier was still there and in good shape and we had a fun fair and Eirias park boating lake was full of kids trying to row a boat and yachting pond had old men and young kids with toy yachts.
It's all gone to hell in an handbasket now, sadly.

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/03/2020 22:23

Go to Conwy on your trip. Visit the castle
and find somewhere for tea and cakes. Or chips on the harbour.
I seeing Mama Rosa's in Llandudno. See what is on at the theatre too.
I love walking right up to the end of the pier in the morning.

MusicTeacherSussex · 04/03/2020 22:31

Definitely tenby. Or any where in pembrokeshire. Beautiful.
