Does anyone remember a book character called Thursday?

Not Endeavour!
Everytime I hear his name I get this vague memory of a character called Thursday from a children’s book. Nothing else, no other memory/clue but it feels like a favourite character. A girl.
I read loads of Enid Blyton, so could be that type of book. 70’s.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?

The heroine of Thursdays child is called Margaret Thursday.

Emil and the Detectives?

TheMemoryLingers · 27/02/2020 19:10

Not a character but might you be thinking of 'See You Thursday' and 'After Thursday' by Jean Ure? They were about a girl called Marianne who began a relationship with a blind musician called Abe - the 'Thursday' referred to a Thursday singing group they belonged to.

Thursdays Child and Far to go
By Noel streatfield

They're about an orphan called Margaret Thursday who was found on a Thursday.
She is sent to an orphanage and runs away.

Loved Noel Streatfield

Squigean · 27/02/2020 19:34

Yes, that's definitely rung a bell. I can see pictures in my very hazy recall too.

Also read a lot of Enid Blyton

Streatfeild, people!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/02/2020 19:58

Nothing to add as others have already suggested Thursday's Child.

I remember reading a book with a child called either Yolande or Yolanda. Never come across the name ever again and often wish I could recall what the book was. Again, it might have been Enid Blyton - I think there were three or four children and I think they were in a garden at some point, but that's all I have to go on!

putastrawunderbaby · 27/02/2020 20:01

There's a Yolanda in the Haffertee Hamster books

RustyBear · 27/02/2020 20:01

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie - I used to have a book called Pony from Fire by Sheila Chapman about a girl called Yoland and her pony Firecat?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/02/2020 20:02

Thanks. I don't remember a hamster.

TheMemoryLingers · 27/02/2020 20:03

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Almost sure this must be Enid Blyton's 'The Put 'Em Rights'. A group of six children form a band with the aim of righting the wrongs in their village, but end up confronting their own failings - Yolande is the youngest 'Put 'Em Right' (shy). The others are Sally (bossy) Micky (stingy) Amanda (lazy) Bobby (poor and doesn't know his place!!) and Podge (takes his wealth for granted). They spend a lot of time in various gardens.

ColonelCathcart · 27/02/2020 20:03

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie the Put Em Rights? I think that’s Enid Blyton.

ColonelCathcart · 27/02/2020 20:04

X post!

Isabellaswann · 27/02/2020 20:04

I loved See You Thursday

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/02/2020 20:05

Pretty sure there was no pony - just children.
