Can't see anything on the website about it but someone said they do?!

In the very very distant past, they used to actually x ray your feet to check the shoes fit!

DownToTheSeaAgain · 24/02/2020 08:42

The x raying was found to be a potential cause of cancer providing repeated low level doses of radiation (and now why radiographers wear lead tabards) that's why that little 'gift' went away.

Yes we got one in January.

We got one in December. They asked us to share a pic on instagram, tag @clarkskids and #myveryfirstshoes to win her next pair free. I didn't know they did them but thought it was a nice touch.

mrsnec · 24/02/2020 09:02

Mine just got a lovely box with a poem inside. It was a few years ago though. My MIL insists the dc wear Clarks shoes but I don't rate them very highly. I don't like the designs and they actually don't fit very well.

Sportsnight · 24/02/2020 09:10

Wouldn’t leave the shop without one. It’ll be page one on their National Record of Achievement Wink.

MoreSchnitzelPlease · 24/02/2020 15:50

GCSE certificates will follow on nicely from that, Sportsnight.

Figgygal · 24/02/2020 15:54

It might depend on each individual branch we did with our youngest he’s 8 now

InDubiousBattle · 24/02/2020 16:06

Look back on it in 30 years?

Would that be so terrible? Looking at a little certificate and a photo of your child in their first shoes?

DatsunCogs · 24/02/2020 16:13

I have a brilliant picture of my DS having a tantrum rolling on the floor in his first shoes, nicely presented on a certificate from Clarks. I treasure it as it makes me laugh. Wasn't offered one with my other DCs.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 24/02/2020 16:24

I don't even get a sticker from the dentist any more. Sad Think that stopped when I reached double figures in age! Grin

ThickSock · 24/02/2020 16:29

I had a hysteroscopy without anaesthetic a few months ago. The doctor said I’d been really brave. I asked if they had any stickers. They didn’t but she drew a smiley face on the copy consent form I took home Smile.

Thanks for the replies.

There's some really miserable people on here.

OP dont rise to it - MN is becoming Nietzsche's wet dream.

ScarlettBlaize · 24/02/2020 17:51

@PsychoWiener I didn't know about this and didn't get one when we got DS first shoes a few weeks ago. Oh man😔

I really really hope you're being sarcastic. Are you? Please say you are.

ScarlettBlaize · 24/02/2020 17:53

@purpleme12 It didn't cost me any money and I would have bought the shoes from there anyway so yes I wanted it.

Why?

TokenGinger · 24/02/2020 17:54

We got one last week when we went to get DS's first shoes. This was in the Trafford Centre store. It must be store specific?

I'm one of the sad parents who was absolutely thrilled with it and have a photo of him in his first shoes holding his certificate and I'm not ashamed of how pleased I was with my piece of paperGrin

NeverGotMyPuppy · 24/02/2020 17:55

Because it would be a memento? Hmm

purpleme12 · 24/02/2020 17:56

Erm why not? As I say it was free, I would have gone there anyway to get the shoes I can't see why I would turn down a photo of my daughter in her first shoes.
Whether you want it or not is completely up to you but I think it's a strange thing to question why someone would want it.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/02/2020 17:57

I had a hysteroscopy without anaesthetic a few months ago.

I had two without anaesthetic and the doctor didnt call me brave Angry
My DC had StartRite shoes as that was the easiest shop to get to. No certificate but i there had been one I probably would have binned it

ScarlettBlaize · 24/02/2020 17:59

@NeverGotMyPuppy Because it would be a memento? hmm

Do you also keep all of your car parking tickets and supermarket receipts? Hmm

@posterpurpleme12 Erm why not? As I say it was free, I would have gone there anyway to get the shoes I can't see why I would turn down a photo of my daughter in her first shoes. Whether you want it or not is completely up to you but I think it's a strange thing to question why someone would want it.

Because I can't understand why anyone would want another random bit of paper cluttering up their house. If your child wears shoes now, then by logical deduction it must have started wearing shoes at some point.

"Why not? It was free" isn't really an answer.

Youngatheart00 · 24/02/2020 18:00

Why do you care??

purpleme12 · 24/02/2020 18:01

Ok. I don't come on here to argue so I'll leave it there

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 24/02/2020 18:03

I had a HyCoSy, and the doctor said “well we know there’s no blockage because otherwise it would have hurt” I said “it did hurt!!!” to which her response was, “yes I’m sure you were being very brave, but I meant really hurt”. I didn’t get a sticker.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 24/02/2020 18:03

@ScarlettBlaize why r u so invested and being so rude? It's not the same as a parking ticket is it? Why do u think you should be given some sort of satisfactory answer if you cant understand the obvious one?

I think I need to give MN a skip for a while.
