Sanitary towel advice

Hi all,

For reasons I’m having to go back to sanitary towels which I haven’t used for about 15 years. Switched from tampons to Mooncup a while ago for environmental reasons.
Since when have Always been stinky? Any recommendations for decent eco-friendly or reusable towels instead of more plastic landfill?

Only issue i have with my washable pads, is that they do tend to slip backwards on me, so I keep them for at home days or night time.
Other users - is this a brand issue, or a my body shape issue, or my pants shape issue ? As I would like to find some that I can wear everyday.

@SpeedofaSloth I've just started using those too! I just feel more secure with those. I love the no wings style and the fact that they are not scented.

Duckyneedsaclean · 21/02/2020 21:48

Bodyform are approx 100x better than always.

I really recommend Modibodi though. There's a bit initial outlay but it's worth it for the comfort and total lack of thrush!

I also switched from always to body form pink.

However I started the mini pill before Christmas and now haven't had a period for 6 weeks! I'm thinking if I'm still gonna have small bleeds at some point I'd try periodpants or reusable.

Watching this with interest!

Charlie Banana are the ones I have, although I do also have a couple by a different make. I will try longer ones with more poppers, thanks for the tip.

I Just bought some bamboo reuseable ones off Amazon that were good. Baba and boo do some nice ones too

kevintheorangecarrot · 21/02/2020 22:30

I just use Aldi brand (think they're called Lunex)? They are fine for me and not "stinky".

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 21/02/2020 23:39

Pink body form here. Love the fact they aren’t plasticky. Used to be happy with aldi but god they stink now.

kevintheorangecarrot · 22/02/2020 08:45

@JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam the ones I get from Aldi don't stink? How long ago was this?

Hairwizard · 22/02/2020 10:52

God i hate the stinky ones and since when did they get so useless with heavy flow?? Mines have always been heavy but since getting periods back after pg the pads all seem to be stupidly thin! Wtf happened?

AnotherEmma · 22/02/2020 10:55

Resuable pads from Honour Your Flow, don't know if it still works but I've used the code MUMSNET for a 10% discount in the past.

Second Precious stars budget range to start. They actually aren't that hard to make yourself- YouTube is your friend.
I make most of my daughter's and actually plan to spend some time this weekend making some for me - started HRT and some of the side effects can apparently include bleeding again.

cannaethink · 22/02/2020 12:03

I’ve just bought a few reusable panty liners from cheeky wipes. They are much comfier but do feel bulky. I solved the slipping backwards problem by using a nappy pin to keep it in place. Haven’t given myself an unexpected piercing yet... Smile

I use RagHag pads. Comfortable & best designs ever.
