Seeing dead relatives/pets when about to die.

There’s been so many stories of this. Do you believe it’s true or do you think it’s a dying person’s brain playing tricks on them and them “seeing” things that aren’t there? (Sorry, I hope this isn’t a morbid thread, I’m just genuinely curious).

My ddad was unconscious. I don't know whether someone came for him or what was happening in his brain. Maybe someone did come for him. I will choose to believe that. No point in torturing yourself.

When our friends’ beloved old flat-coat retriever was on his very last legs (he was PTS the following day) the neighbours’ visiting adult son (it was a semi) who was busy on the computer and thinking of other things entirely, saw their old dog, who’d died some years previously but had been a best friend of the flatcoat.

The son in question was not remotely woo and was decidedly shaken by the experience.
It was thought/hoped that their old dog had come to keep the flatcoat company on his way.

In the days before my uncle died of cancer he started to see his parents but couldn't hear them. He said he knew that when he could hear them speak it would be time to go. Gave him and the family some comfort.

About half an hour before dad died, he asked why all his dead relatives were standing at the end of his bed. He didn’t believe in stuff like that.

A family friend had a dream that she was saying goodbye to her ex-husband who was holding a suitcase. She heard of his death the next day. My mum said 'Well, it often happens that way.'

Three of my uncles died in the same year. Uncle Bob was dying of lung cancer but was desperate to attend Uncle Paul's funeral. He died on the day of the funeral; I like to think that Uncle Paul came to fetch him.

Woke up this morning realising that 4 years ago today my dm went in to hospice and died 7 days later. I was always a bit cynical about the dead coming to collect .... however the night she died she kept saying dad, dad. I was sat at the foot of the bed and to be honest was a bit distracted as i'd been there for days. My dsis who was on the other side of the bed suddenly let out a yelp and started convulsing, it made me shiver, she was recoiling and her body was twitching - she left the room and all i could hear was her saying "you need to leave me and look after her". I followed her but she was glassy eyed and couldn't focus on me - like she wasn't in her body. Then, suddenly she was fine and back in the room. She maintains to this day it was dm's father who we were both close to coming to take dm. DM died 6 hours later.

Shamelessly bumping for more. I've found this thread very comforting. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories. Smile
