Do I need a Roomba in my life?

Just that really, don't have a huge house but have a dog and new carpet that has a pretty thick pile. Dog leaves dents in the pile that make it look dirty so I'm forever getting the hoover out and it's a PITA.

I'm envisaging just setting the roomba off to deal with it and letting it get on with it!

Would want it to be able to cope with the kitchen / hall hardwood floor too.

Or do I need a cordless hoover - Dyson or similar instead?

Please help!

Ok a quick run down this is only ime tho

They all have anti lemming built in so won't hurl themselves down stairs .

The can manage small lips / ledges up to about 1.5 cm .

You MUST move all cables but particularly thin ones like phone charges/ head phone wires , and laces , cat / kid / dog toys .
It seems like a lot of faff to start with but you soon learn to keep the floor clear and use cable ties where needed.

They cope with cat litter, dust fluff, hair , but not very long hair / fur.

You will still have to do your stairs.

They cope with ramps surprising well. ( 2 steps in to my kitchen ) a lump of wood does fine.

They are much quieter than a vac so fine to use early / late with out disturbing the neighbours .

Great for vac'ing the sofa under the cushions / mattress etc

Depending on hight space they will go under a lot of furniture, ( Eufy 11s will get under anything over 3.5 inches high.
So great for under beds , sofas , kick boards in kitchen etc.

If they do get stuck they will cry for help but cut out before doing any damage.

They need emptying roughly every 2 /3 days but it only takes a minute to do this .

You have to name them.

If you are in the house while they are running they will gently bump into you for affection.( Grin )

I'm getting convinced! So, is eufy better than roomba?

Mammyofonlyone · 17/02/2020 21:36

I have one, and I have new-ish carpets. As a result of the new carpet fluff they get blocked up quite quickly ie need emptying mid way through a 5x5m room. But they are great for dog hair on hard floors

We have an eufy and it is one of the best things we have brought. Have hard flooring and normal (so not super squishy) carpets and it copes better than I thought it would...now I have given it a name and seem to have antropomorphised it a bit though...bit worrying Grin

MotheringShites · 17/02/2020 21:41

Yes. Best thing that has ever happened to me.

INeedToGetHealthy · 19/02/2020 00:56

@AlCalavicci ours was called Palombo, after DH's friend who ate like a hoover. We had an iRobot Scooba too, which was called Sideshow Bob.

DaphneBlake101 · 19/02/2020 08:07

Eufy changed my life. I can't say enough good things about owning one. Everyone I have recommended it to agrees!

Playdoughbum · 19/02/2020 08:13

Bloody love mine. Clean floor no effort.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/02/2020 08:41

I love my eufy, the man who fitted my new smart meters asked about it yesterday & probably wished he hadn’t by the end of it.

I have a lot of tiles. He’s called Sebastian 2. Sebastian 1 was a vileda but his battery failed and amazon refunded me.

KenAdams · 19/02/2020 09:33

What Eufy model do you all have?

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/02/2020 14:14

Mines just a basic one.

99problemsandthecatis1 · 19/02/2020 14:17

We have the 15c a real base model but works well. When it breaks we'll definitely replace it, probably with a more advanced model if we can afford it.

Ours was about £110 in an Amazon flash sale.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 19/02/2020 14:44

I've got the iRobot and love it. I've got mainly hard floors downstairs but it does the one carpeted room well too. The carpet is short pile so don't know how good it would be on a deeper one.

Love that I can just set a cleaning schedule for everyday. It can be a bit random in the directions it goes off it so it's best not to watch it - it's gets the job done in the end.

I talk to it like a pet though - he's called Basil.

fedup21 · 19/02/2020 14:49

@KenAdams we have the Eufy 30C. It was a Black Friday deal. I honestly love it.

Whyismycatanasshat · 19/02/2020 14:51

Eufy 11s here. Love him. He’s called Eubank after the old carpet sweeper my name had.

Copes well with dog hair, sheep wool and straw.

zelbazinnamon · 19/02/2020 15:25

How do they do with rugs on hard wood floors?

BlastEndedSkrewt · 19/02/2020 15:30

didireallysaythat beat me too it - I love mine

@ zelbazinnamon - we have a medium/large thickness of rug & ours doesn't have a problem popping off the floor & onto the rug

Snozzlemaid · 19/02/2020 15:39

I've got the Eufy 30c as well. He's amazing. Wouldn't be without one now.

Frazzlerock · 19/02/2020 15:41

We have a Eufy. We do love it

BUT... It really needs a north eye kept on it. It gets stuck on things.
For example, we have one of those cat scratch tree things and it tries to get onto the base of it, then it gets stuck and can't get off.
We also have to make sure the door to the utility room is closed which is ever so slightly lower than the kitchen due the our engineered wood flooring in the kitchen - so it will go into the utility room and down a very slight lip where the wood flooring ends and then can't get back up again.
Also all wires (such as extension sockets and electronics plugged into them) have to be lifted up off the floor or it will get tangled in them. Just when you think you've cleared everything it will always find something to get stuck on and, if you're not watching it, it will run out of battery trying to escape. Most frustrating! But if I am around then it is great. I just sit watching TV while it does its job and I can get up and help it if it needs rescuing!

ClassicallyConditioned · 19/02/2020 15:52

Can anyone recommend one that DOES work for long hair? I'm tempted by the idea of one but we have ragdolls

SuperficialSuzie · 19/02/2020 15:58

Mine is great at picking up mine and DDs long hair. The hair does get tangled round the brush after a while so once a month I just cut it out and then it is back to normal.

It is the cheapest entry level model but was so good that my Dad and sister bought one for their houses too.

Tatiebee · 19/02/2020 16:09

I love my Roomba and couldn't be without it now. I have two greyhounds and it copes with their hair no problem. I have it set automatically to clean when I leave for the school run but I love the fact that I can use the app to make it vacuum wherever I am. I can't even ask Alexa to "tell Roomba to clean".

The only think it has trouble with is the black carpet in my son's room (cliff sensors), although it's usually for too messy in there to vacuum anyway!

LightNC · 19/02/2020 16:24

@ClassicallyConditioned many of the Roombas have rubber brushes, which are meant to stop that tangling/winding hair round the brush problem. I have a long haired cat and the roomba has coped perfectly, no tangles or anything

PaddyF0dder · 19/02/2020 16:27

We got the eufy robovac and it’s great. Not as fancy (or expensive) as a roomba. But it gets the job done. We set it to vacuum downstairs while we’re upstairs putting the kids to bed. It’s a wonderful wee robot.

Loyaultemelie · 19/02/2020 16:50

I love my room a! It's a complete game changer! Copes with cat and Labrador hair plus cat litter and dc random crap. Does have hidden talent for discovering cables you think you lifted though
