Is it just me who finds Pandora bracelet a faff?

It was a present, nice idea, but I find it tricky to close it, the charms keep falling off whilst faffing with a clasp.
That's after chipping nail varnish when trying to open it (or looking for a suitable tool every time).
Am I missing something?

Yes you are missing a safety chain!

KellyHall · 14/02/2020 08:57

Couldn't whoever gave it to you have put it on you?

Maybe you're not supposed to take it off often

NameChange84 · 14/02/2020 09:00

I find the safety chain just as much of a faff when it twists the wrong way and when I want to change charms.

They are a pita to put on. I don’t bother to put mine on when I know I’m in a rush.

There was no safety chain, is that supposed to be bought separately or is it a part of the bracelet, not sure I should go back.

I don't really want to wear it all the time..

Yes everything is bought separately. I have a chain on mine and it's never been a problem. Fastening the clasp can be a fiddle sometimes though.

isseywith4vampirecats · 14/02/2020 09:24

im not over keen on the look of them they look like the sweety ones I used to eat as a child, I have a return to tiffannys one so easy to put on and take off

NameChange84 · 14/02/2020 09:32

I don’t “do” coloured charms or novelty charms and I don’t overload the bracelets. I just have a few tasteful silver, rose gold or gold Pandora charms and jewellery pieces. It doesn’t have to look like a sweetie bracelet if you make careful choices. I don’t wear my Tiffany jewellery anymore but I found the bracelet tricky at times (though not AS tricky as the Pandora one) so I bought the Tiffany solid silver cuff to wear day to day instead which was much easier to put on but a bugger to clean! I have a lovely Pandora bangle which is very easy to put on, they are worth looking at.

NameChange84 · 14/02/2020 09:34

You also need the clips (also bought separately) to stop the charms sliding all over!

Gogolego · 14/02/2020 11:08

Yes especially when I've had my nails done. The clasp is nail suicide

80sMum · 14/02/2020 11:12

I don't like Pandora bracelets at all. To me they look a bit too much like children's jewellery. I have to admit that for quite a long time I assumed that they were for youngsters (until I saw the prices!).

Mlou32 · 14/02/2020 11:29

There is a clasp fastener that you can buy that avoids having to chip your nails every time you put it on/take it off. I'm going to pick one up when I'm next it because it's a bloody nightmare sometimes trying to open and close it

YogaLite · 14/02/2020 11:34

Thank u all, can't be bothered to buy extras so it won't be worn often - or possibly re-gifted at some point.

I use one of DP's guitar pics to open mine, it looks almost identical to the official Pandora opener.

YogaLite · 14/02/2020 11:36

Men swayed by clever marketing eh!

OP posts:
trianglular · 14/02/2020 11:39

It's not just men. There are plenty women falling over themselves for pandora. It has been a very clever marketing ploy. I quite like mine, it was a gift from DD though, I only have a few things on it though.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 14/02/2020 12:56

I have a pandora torq bangle.

Goes on super easy, never is insecure (I swim in mine)

Problem solved

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 14/02/2020 12:58

Torq bangle

I don't wear mine anymore but when I did, I was able to just get them on without opening it, just kind of "roll" it over my hand/palm (no they weren't too big).

You can also buy spacer bead things that stop the charms moving over the different sections on it so nothing will fall off.

3rdchristmaslucky · 14/02/2020 13:34

It's overpriced and overhyped costume jewelry.
I used to work opposite a pandora store, in a boutique, and was completely amazed by how many people would be queuing outside to buy it at Christmas time.
The company has branded and marketed themselves excellently.
But I just wouldn't bother.

There's always someone on these threads who comes on just to shit on them. People like different things shock! So get to fuck with the jewellery snobbery.

Take it back to the shop and get your money back. They're tacky gimmicks for people with no imagination/taste.

WellTidy · 14/02/2020 15:20

I think they look pretty but I can’t imagine ever wearing anything more than a watch day to day. Bracelets and bangles seem to get in the way, whether I’m working at a desk and writing or typing, or doing things around the house.

AlrightBabby · 14/02/2020 15:21

How rude! I imagine many posters on here, like myself, have been lovingly given Pandora bracelets and charms by husbands, parents, children and grandchildren. They may not be everyones cup of tea but it's not nice to hear your nearest and dearest referred to as tasteless mugs!
