Any suggestions for something we can enjoy together that's a bit more grown up but not too dark!
We watched Safe on Netflix and he has watched The Stranger. He really enjoyed both.
Thanks!

Good Omens?

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 07/02/2020 13:13

Thanks teen
We watch SAS and hunted.
We like a good mystery, like silent witness but less abuse!
The story in lots of crime/police/mystery tends to be focused on abuse or rape etc so not really teen friendly!
I used to like watching Bergerac with my parents at his age!!

New Tricks

Dirk Gently on Netflix, it's very weird but DD & I loved it

Stranger things if he hasn't seen it already

DD & I recently watched the film Catch me if you can - she really enjoyed it, more than I expected. She also like Blackkklansman (some violence & language but a good film)

Hellohah · 07/02/2020 13:18

What about Sherlock? All the episodes are on Netflix.

nancy75 · 07/02/2020 13:19

Oh yes, Sherlock is great for that age group

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 07/02/2020 13:19

Thanks nancy
We are nearly finished stranger things, we wach with his sibling.
I'll definitely try the others you suggested thanks!

Sherlock with Johnny Lee Miller?

nancy75 · 07/02/2020 13:20

No Sherlock with benedict whatshisface & Martin Freeman

nancy75 · 07/02/2020 13:23

Another one I just remembered - You, Me & the Apocolypse. Again only if you don't mind a bit of strong language.

Also with the same guy, The wrong mans - I think that might be on iplayer

ilovespinach · 07/02/2020 13:23

My DS 13 has recently enjoyed Blackadder.

nancy75 · 07/02/2020 13:24

If you don't mind really sweary and comedy gore Hot Fuzz is one of my DD's favorite films, along with Shawn of the dead (I'm quite lax when it comes to movie swearing, both films have quite a lot)

Hellohah · 07/02/2020 13:31

Other things he's enjoyed, but may not be your cup of tea are A Typical, The Witcher, Gotham, The King, The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn 99, Vikings (this is on Amazon Prime though), WWII in colour.

Ditto above - Hot Fuzz (@nancy75 - we were watching The Stranger last night and someone said 'decapitated' - DS burst out laughing and said "decaffinated" - he loves that film).

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 07/02/2020 13:33

Firefly.
Ghosts
Taskmaster

Hellohah · 07/02/2020 13:36

*decaffeinated

ilovespinach · 07/02/2020 13:42

Hancock ( on netflix) was also very much enjoyed

nancy75 · 07/02/2020 13:44

Hellohah thank god I'm not the only parent allowing sweary films Grin

Bluerussian · 07/02/2020 13:46

The Crown.

ilovenaps · 07/02/2020 13:49

There's a new show just released called Locke and key. Seems quite good for teens

Hellohah · 07/02/2020 13:57

@nancy75... I swear a lot, particularly when driving and watching football. There is nothing in a film/on TV he hasn't heard come out of my potty mouth 😂😂

BearSoFair · 07/02/2020 14:00

I second Dirk Gently, especially the first season.

Cheesecake53 · 07/02/2020 14:25

I recommend Once upon a time :)
And I also second Dirk Gently.

Bairnsmum05 · 07/02/2020 14:27

Mine absolutely loved Grace and Frankie 😊
