I know it's early but there are lots of pissed young men already in my local and Union Jack hats/flags/banners aplenty plus a buffet (still covered up for later). Am in the North. Anyone else?

Just my local then 😂

Ok I'll just talk to myself 😁
The pissed young blokes are so young I doubt they were old enough to actually vote in the 2016 referendum so I'm rather perplexed at their general euphoria!

Landlady is giving them evils so reckon they will be moved on soon and miss the buffet

I mean I was too young to witness WW2 but I'm still pleased we won Grin

Smelly50 · 31/01/2020 19:17

You made me laugh I'll talk to myself then . We are at home and def not having Brexit party. However I'm not sure if local pubs are . I couldn't let you talk to yourself op

sittingonacornflake · 31/01/2020 19:18

What's on the buffet? I'm starving and can't eat until DS finally decides to go to sleep as I'm trapped under him.

Flymetothetoon · 31/01/2020 19:29

Yea I'm no longer Billy no Mates! No idea what's on the buffet - it's laid out on the pool table ( so pissing off the pool dudes) and it's all covered in silver foil. My guess is ham/cheese/turkey/sausage rolls not that I'm a regular

Talk about rubbing people's faces in it!

JamesBlonde1 · 31/01/2020 19:41

I think more than few people will be having a drink at 11pm to celebrate. I will. If it wasn't so windy I'd expect some fireworks around my neck of the woods.

Flymetothetoon · 31/01/2020 19:42

Leafyhouse you're gonna have to expand on that 🤔

OP posts:
sittingonacornflake · 31/01/2020 19:42

I'm afraid you now have to take one for the team and stay there drinking until the buffet opens so you can tell us what's on it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/01/2020 19:44

It's not the pub that said they will be playing Kylie is it? Grin

I'm at home but I haven't seen anything advertised in the pubs. I'm in a very industrial midlands town so quite surprising really. Might hear some fireworks later.

ilovesooty · 31/01/2020 19:45

I've no idea whether my local pubs are having parties. I'm not risking going anywhere near them. Sad

Mummyshark2018 · 31/01/2020 19:47

Don't think there'll be any public brexit parties where I am- highest remain vote in country. A city near where I live is having a remain candlelight vigil at a cathedral.

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/01/2020 19:49

The pub nearest to me (that I never go to) has had semi-literate pro-Brexit messages chalked on a board outside for the past year or more. One of them was so inflammatory I was going to report it but it was removed, I think someone must have had a word with the landlord. They are having a party tonight and the sign clearly states 'remainers don't bother'. I hope the fireworks don't go on too long.

Flymetothetoon · 31/01/2020 19:51

sittingonacornflake 'sigh' do I reeeeeely reeeeely have to ? 😮😂

Smelly50 · 31/01/2020 20:07

Mummyshark2018 I soooooo would like to live where you do

ilovesooty · 31/01/2020 20:17

It's already very windy here and hopefully the weather won't be conducive to letting off fireworks.

Flymetothetoon · 31/01/2020 20:21

There is karaoke in my local tonight and frankly some fireworks would be welcome to drown out the - er - dulcet tones being currently exhibited 😀

OP posts:
Flymetothetoon · 31/01/2020 20:26

Btw maybe I should have captioned my OP 'lighthearted' - I know there is a Brexit board but it appears too full of doom and gloom. I'm not politically motivated at all just making an observation about my local pub 🤷‍♂️

Where I am, in an ex-mining village in Yorkshire, they've raised the Union flag. Seems a bit ironic really, given that Brexit might in fact lead to the break up of the Union.

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/01/2020 20:45

There's a vigil in Sheffield.

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/01/2020 20:47

I also live in a former mining area, mainly pro-Brexit. Sad

ImportantWater · 31/01/2020 20:49

I’m on the FB group for the village my sister used to live in, simply for the entertainment value, and someone posted yesterday that they would be “putting money behind the bar” for a Brexit celebration tonight. They quickly closed comments after someone asked if they should bring UKIP banners or swastikas, but not before the landlady, who clearly knew nothing about it, posted asking if she had any idea of numbers.
