Do you want to see a picture of Angua and Cheery from the BBC new Pratchett adaptation?

The program is called The Watch, from what I understand it’s a distillation of the watch novels. The blonde actor is Angua, the dark haired one is Cheery. I’m trying to wrap my head around the casting choice for Cheery, who in the books is spoiler alert a female dwarf who due to all dwarfs having beards is assumed to be male by her colleagues.

I like both of those for Vimes. Or maybe John Hannah?

I always pictures Angua as much bigger - like Kristen Johnston from 3rd Rock from the Sun (to old for it now), or Natasha Henstridge (Species) - basically someone who could hold their own against the physical perfection that Carrot was supposed to be. Fit, strong, tall - formidable.

The actress they have (although it's hard to tell as she's sitting) seems more scrappy (and short hair!) - more of a terrier than the wolf/collie with flowing hair I imagined.

I'm not talking about Cheery. I always liked how TP brought in the massive cultural upheaval and clash that Dwarves were going through. This is not that.

Yes, I think John Hannah could pull it off.

Maybe we should crowdfund our own adaptation, a Mumsnet community production. We'd be awesome!

I thought having a female Vetinari was odd choice as he wrote so many strong and differenet female characters. Still I thought it might work.

Then I've just read in one the posted links it's the same directed as BBC recent War of the Worlds - I've still no idea how they made an alien invasion boring.

I’d like to see a Rivers of London adaptation, although it would probably involve some fourth wall breaking from Peter. But that would be ok.
