What do you give your DC for tea when they are poorly

My 17mo DS has been sent home from nursery a bit under the weather and will be off for the next few days. It’s nothing serious, just a perfect storm of teething molars, a cold and a bit of an upset stomach.

My childhood was a bit rubbish, but I hear other people saying how their parents would give comforting foods and other special treats when they were young and off school etc, and it sounds so lovely.

So, what kind of things do you give your DC for tea when they are ill? And what other comforting things do you do? My DS was straight into his pyjamas and dressing gown and cuddled up on the sofa when we got home, and pancakes and fruit for tea, which seems to have lifted his spirits Smile

Mine was always scrambled eggs and toast and a mug of warm/hot Vimto squash with a straw. I still have a hot vimto if I'm poorly.

With my son it's harder as he is very fussy and not good at requesting things so mostly toast and juice. But lots of cuddles on the sofa and relaxing his bedtime if his sleep cycle is a bit out and just generally making a fuss of him.

My two and three year olds have been poorly since Saturday. They've basically not eaten anything. It's a complete waste of time preparing anything Sad

Heinz tomato soup, thick white bread with lashings of butter! A fix all for all ailments Smile

My DS is a human dustbin even when ill. I think if he ever went off his food I’d take him to A&E because he’d clearly be at death’s door!

I made him chicken in white wine sauce in the end with peas and sweetcorn. We’ll see how that goes down tomorrow! He’s currently sleeping on my chest, refusing to be put down Grin

When 6yo DS had chicken pox last week, he's only eat chocolate eclairs, plain pasta and mango.

No tomato based soup (acidic!) if dodgy tum!!!!

The fall out could be spectacular Grin (unless you have red carpet already)
