Thank you Nicholas for all the laughter

He was amazing for 96. Utterly irreplaceable.

Enb76 · 28/01/2020 12:10

No-one in my office knew who he was - all too young. He shall be missed by those of us who do not miss a JAM if they can help it. Robin Ince tweeted that instead of a minute's silence you should talk for a minute about Nicolas Parsons, no hesitation, repetition or deviation.

InglouriousBasterd · 28/01/2020 12:14

Genuinely sad about this. Just hearing his opening line for JAM is my childhood Sunday, whilst my dad prepared the roast and he was truly brilliant.

Buggeritimgettingup · 28/01/2020 12:15

Jam was the first thing I listened to on radio 4. 96 was certainly more than just a minute. RIP Mr P

HollowTalk · 28/01/2020 12:16

This is such sad news.

PotholePalace · 28/01/2020 12:21

My teenage children are forced to listen to Just a Minute and found him funny and charming. Sad that he's gone but I'm impressed at how full a life he led and didn't let age be a hindrance. I would have loved to have known him.

captainpantbeard · 28/01/2020 12:22

Loved JAM from being young, then saw him as the narrator in the Rocky Horror Show 20 odd years ago which made me love him even more. He was a riot.

raskolnikova · 28/01/2020 12:22

Oh no, genuinely sad Sad

MotherWilliam · 28/01/2020 12:23

Like others, genuinely sad. There was nobody quite like him. RIP.

NameChangeNugget · 28/01/2020 12:24

Loved Nicholas “Bloody” Parsons in Mr Jolly Lives Next Door.

Sad news

haverhill · 28/01/2020 12:25

One of a kind.

youwereagoodcakeclyde · 28/01/2020 12:26

Really sad to hear that, I really will actually miss him (and I have never met him).

Bunnylady54 · 28/01/2020 12:26

Oh that is sad. I always think Mary Berry is a female version of him. Seemed like someone you would want to have a cuppa with.

chomalungma · 28/01/2020 12:43

It's amazing he kept recording Just a minute for so long. Loved listening to him and his decision making. Especially for their contribution and as a first time player of the game.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/01/2020 12:49

Sad news. He was a great host of Just a Minute

Jux · 28/01/2020 13:04

So sad. He's been a constant presence in my life, from Sale of the Century to Just a Minute.

RIP Flowers

MulticolourMophead · 28/01/2020 13:06

Sad to hear, RIP. 💐

I remember having a laugh with Mum when Sale of the Century was on TV.

Mrsemcgregor · 28/01/2020 13:07

Without Hesitation, Deviation or Repetition he was truly a great host, actor, comedian and I am sure many other things to many people. RIP Mr Parsons, radio will not be the same again.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/01/2020 13:08

So sad. I will genuinely miss listening to him.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 28/01/2020 13:11

So sad. He’ll be missed.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/01/2020 13:15

RIP.
I remember we tried to play JAM when I was in primary school... I'm 59. He's been a continuing cheerful voice through my whole life.

Sooverthemill · 28/01/2020 13:18

Sad news. He had a good, long life which was brilliant. A very funny man

Alsohuman · 28/01/2020 13:19

Very sorry, JAM won’t be the same without him.

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/01/2020 13:22

I had forgotten about the Rocky Horror Show, I really hope the BBC do a proper tribute programme.
Enb76 what a great idea, let's all talk about him for a minute

Genius. I wonder if there'll be a special programme and I wonder if it will continue or they will let it rest in peace with NP?

I've listened to loads of JAMs over the years and I'm not sure if it is still going as there seems to be a few repeats pop up in my podcast feed but I also remember him from his 'Live from Norwich' Sale of the Century days but apart from that intro, I can't remember anything about the show except that it was some sort of Saturday night variety show, the sort of thing everyone used to watch when there was only 3! channels.
