My DD is having a soft play party for her 7th birthday, and after food they get to make a Teddy Bear. (a bit like build a bear) I originally planned it with just inviting girls in mind, but there is about 3 boys in her class that she is good friends with, and i know she'd love them to be invited. Would 7 year old boys want to come to a make a bear party?

Next question; I’m planning to serve strawberry ice cream at my daughter's party , do you think the boys will reject it cos it’s pink” 🤪

KoalasandRabbit · 25/01/2020 15:31

Roisin My DS at that age loved pink but might have rejected it for not being chocolate.

Though desserts aren't normally an issue for most kids. Grin

Nor are teddy bears 😜

KoalasandRabbit · 25/01/2020 16:35

But sometimes they have to have a secret teddy collection they can't let friends see, well at least DS does at 13. Bear Though it used to amuse me when I would tell other Mums the number of other boys with lots of secret teddy bears.

ImMarysLamb · 25/01/2020 16:36

My 8 year old son would love it.

shivbo2014 · 25/01/2020 16:43

I done this for my dd and invite lots of boys they were age 5 and they all loved it.

Ginbauble · 25/01/2020 17:10

I think it depends on the individual child rather than whether they are a boy or a girl.

My eldest boy would not have been keen on building a bear cos he's never been into soft toys or anything crafty- preferred Lego and meccano type activities. But he'd have joined in cos he's kind and polite!

My youngest boy would have loved building a bear cos he has v different interests to his brother.

roisinagusniamh · 25/01/2020 17:18

Why would he feel the need to keep his Teddy secret ?
Fsake!
I had no idea there was such gender stereotyping around Teddy Bears!

Sewrainbow · 25/01/2020 18:04

One of my boys would have loved it the other would have thought it babyish...

Flyingarcher · 25/01/2020 18:17

My 19 year old would love it! Mind, he has taken a bear to uni...

SpaghettiSharon · 25/01/2020 23:33

@BrexitBingoGenerator there’s always lots of stereotypical boy bashing on MN - boys are the pits don’t you know?

It’s tiresome tedious crap, but it never ends. I look at my awesome, polite well behaved boys and feel sorry for them tbh.

Singlenotsingle · 25/01/2020 23:48

No. My dgs had a party at Quasar today, and some girls came to that . Everybody enjoyed it.

VashtaNerada · 25/01/2020 23:54

This is one of the weirdest threads I’ve seen in a while! Of course boys play with teddy bears. I’m a teacher and if you ask any primary class to bring in a teddy from home for a project, they all love it! Boys are children not an alien species...

roisinagusniamh · 26/01/2020 01:34

Yes but it would appear that some Mumsnetters see them as such!
Let boys and girls just be children please !

Pieinthesky11 · 26/01/2020 01:38

No way here xx

FagashJackie · 26/01/2020 01:51

All of my children at that age would have scored that. I think it sounds like a lovely party.

shamelessfamilyoverroad · 26/01/2020 02:07

My 7 & 8 year old boys would hate it. It's all football/rugby/video games at this age with their friends. Would be seen as babyish I'm afraid.
