Would 6-7 year old boys like a make a teddy party?

My DD is having a soft play party for her 7th birthday, and after food they get to make a Teddy Bear. (a bit like build a bear) I originally planned it with just inviting girls in mind, but there is about 3 boys in her class that she is good friends with, and i know she'd love them to be invited. Would 7 year old boys want to come to a make a bear party?

Depends on the particular boys, obviously, but my older DS’s (8 and 6) have loved their trips to Build a Bear, and have been asking to go again, so they’d probably enjoy this sort of activity at a party.

Plus if it’s at a soft play venue, the kids will have had a chance to burn off energy running around before you get to the bear bit.

Jesus, you were all poorly but you let them do apple bobbing? 🤢

Hmm, are you sure everyone thinks your parties are "awesome"? Sounds awful

Butterfly02 · 24/01/2020 12:57

Depends on the child - Ds1 would have loved it at that age, ds2 probably would have tolerated it knowing there was all his friends there, food and soft play.

I think whatever I did would have been wrong for crusty crab who I am sure is the perfect parent in every situation. Good for you!

MsTSwift · 24/01/2020 13:04

Totally imagining crusty crab as “Amanda” from motherland....

MsTSwift · 24/01/2020 13:05

I emailed all the parents the night before to cancel the party but they wanted to go ahead...

Chickenitalia · 24/01/2020 13:07

Ds aged 7 would love it but if other friends started being silly he would almost certainly join in with that too. Dds best female friend would have utterly hated it at that age, complained bitterly throughout and then lectured everyone within earshot about materialistic behaviour and the planet. She’s quite a character. So it really depends on the child. One or two boys who are genuine friends I would guess at being ok with it all. Tell the parents what the party is going to be and then let them decide. I’ve said sorry we’re busy to football parties for ds as he really didn’t want to go, and dd still talks about a gokarting party that she went to last year. They’re all different.

Fair comment 😂😂 #shitshop

ContessaferJones · 24/01/2020 13:11

Not sure my 8yo boy would enjoy it, but 7yo boy would. Depends on the boy, really. DS2 gets invited to lots of girl's parties as their interests seem to overlap.

Definitely. Although I was thinking more the Irish friend, she's more of a 'crusty crab' than Amanda Grin

tweedler · 24/01/2020 13:18

My boys would have loved that!

AnnaMariaDreams · 24/01/2020 13:21

DS would absolutely love it. He’s seven and a half. He sleeps with a bed full of teddies and his favourites are a build a bear Chewbacca and a cuddly Hedwig.

SuperSange · 24/01/2020 13:22

My 6 year old went to his first build a bear party last week and was very pleased with his darth Vader bear.

crustycrab · 24/01/2020 13:27

Back in yer box quirrel I am NOT Anne

PhantomErik · 24/01/2020 13:32

My dd had a similar party a few years ago & my 2 ds who also came, loved it! They still have their teddy bears on their beds.

They were 6 & 8 at the time.

Grin her performance in the Halloween episode was sheer genius

1FootInTheRave · 24/01/2020 14:26

Soft play and teddy.....
........
.....
..
YES!

BrexitBingoGenerator · 24/01/2020 14:31

There is lots of stereotypical boy-bashing on this thread. I think my 7yo boy would love it because he’d be with his friends celebrating. If they don’t like it, then that’s their loss. Hope you have a great time 🥳

BriefDisaster · 24/01/2020 14:47

When I said my DS wouldnt like it, that would be because he isn't into anything that involves making or decorating things. Well he likes lego but get craft stuff out and he will sit there with a face on and make half arse attempts until finally he can go back to running about.

This thread seems to suggest if your son wouldn't like designing his own teddy bear then that is some sort of 'gender stereotype' problem rather than imagining that, shock horror, some boys like different things!

He hates football....does that make it all bettet that he hates arts and crafts?

roisinagusniamh · 25/01/2020 08:31

I think any kid would love it.
But, then maybe some hate teddy bears.
You and you daughter know her friends.
It really should not be a gender/sex thing.
It's a party, ffs.....have lots of food and fizzy drinks and let them be kids!!

chrisski33 · 25/01/2020 11:20

Most boys will like those kinda parties til about 8.

KurriKurri · 25/01/2020 12:01

My DS would have loved it - I think most kids would, cuddly toys aren't 'girl things' - (actually my DS is now grown up and he bought me a cuddly cat for my 60th birthday !)

I would just go ahead with the party you have planned that your DD wants, if they are really against it the boys will decline the invitation. If they come but aren't keen on making a bear they can watch others, or maybe make one for a present to give to a sibling or something.

Do these bear parties take place in a bear shop or at your house ?

SeaWitchly · 25/01/2020 12:11

My 8 and 10 year old boys went to a Build a Bear type party this week and absolutely loved it. Both adore stuffed toys and have a big collection each. Depends on the boy I would think.

SeaWitchly · 25/01/2020 12:13

They both also like playstation, play fighting, football and slugs Grin
