To live near the sea but close to good town, city?

Can anyone suggest somewhere in uk where we can live near to the sea but still have close access to good shops, schools, restaurants, facilities, life?

Jumping on the Tynemouth/Whitley bay train :-)

Brighton/Hove, Hastings.

New Forest, I walk out on the sea wall every morning or in the forest during summer. Local schools are amazing but also you can be in London in 1.5 hours. Several good restaurants, a couple Michelin restaurants for those extra special birthdays. Pebble beaches but 20 mins in a car and on sand. Very friendly, very doggy place, good shops and coffee shops. Down side - prices of houses has gone up so much in the last 10 years or so.

Birmingham

Fife. Loads of lovely coastal villages and town but easy to get to Edinburgh or Dundee depending on which end you are in

Ayrshire coast.
close to Glasgow.

Plymouth. We are right on the coast, 3 universities so nice and lively, shops getting better. I love it here.

Greenock (I love Greenock).
Edinburgh -Portobello is lovely and so close to the centre.
Aberdeen. Just amazing.
The northern and western Isles are fab too, but it does depend a little on what you want from a ‘town’!

I live in between the coast and Bristol. It's lovely.

Another vote for Swansea.

Another vote for the Northumberland coast. We're north of Blyth, it's fantastic.

Hornsea, Eat Yorkshire coast. Beverley is the nearest town and Hull is the nearest city.

Suffolk coast, near Felixstowe, Woodbridge and Ipswich.

Woodbridge is beautiful. Also Thorpeness and aldeburugh.

Whitstable, Hastings, Brighton
