Can anyone suggest somewhere in uk where we can live near to the sea but still have close access to good shops, schools, restaurants, facilities, life?

Bournemouth. Lived there for 6 years and loved it. Plenty of employment opportunities too.
Otherwise Cardiff.

SpiderHunter · 22/01/2020 11:11

Wirral.

Skyejuly · 22/01/2020 11:11

New forest. Rural living and coast but only 20mins to Southampton.

Seapink2 · 22/01/2020 11:11

Cardiff

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/01/2020 11:12

I was going to say Tynemouth or Cullercoats but I see several posters have beaten me to it.

Clangus00 · 22/01/2020 11:13

Ayr, Prestwick, Troon.

Titslikepicassos · 22/01/2020 11:13

Southsea in Portsmouth

KaliforniaDreamz · 22/01/2020 11:18

Blundellsands, Hove, Shoreham, Broadstairs.

daniellelaurak · 22/01/2020 11:24

Herne Bay /whitstable and Thanet. Herbe Bay is closer to Canterbury and Thanet is close with the most beautiful beaches.

inwood · 22/01/2020 11:26

Saltdean, Rottindean, Hove.

Portobello, Dalgetty Bay

Portrush, Portstewart

Crawley65 · 22/01/2020 11:30

Whitstable. Less than six miles to Canterbury, you can cycle along the Crab and Winkle cycle path.

A second vote for Leigh on Sea. I grew up there. It is (was?) a small friendly town with all you need in close distance. The 'Old Town' with the cockles and prawns and shrimps has been in the same ownership for generations and now has numerous friendly little cafes and pubs plus a main link to Southend/London by train.

Southend is close and has everything you need and more.

There is woodland and great for birdwatchers

I could go on and on and talk myself into moving back!!

Livpool · 22/01/2020 11:33

Liverpool?

AudacityOfHope · 22/01/2020 11:33

Dundee

massistar · 22/01/2020 11:35

The beaches and villages around Swansea are beautiful but the city centre isn't very nice. Poor choice of shops and very little in the way of theatre, arts, good restaurants etc.

user1471428628 · 22/01/2020 11:39

Bournemouth

ImNotACuntYoureACunt · 22/01/2020 12:00

Wirral is good. You have countryside, beaches, Liverpool and Chester aren’t far and there’s plenty to do in Wirral and the Surrounding areas.

Clangus00 · 22/01/2020 12:16

There’s roughly 7,780 miles of coastline in the UK. Can you narrow it down to which country at least?

LegArmpits · 22/01/2020 12:26

The link someone posted above for South Wales is the next street to me! Would absolutely say Vale of Glamorgan - Barry Island and Penarth all within 25 minutes of Cardiff.

soberfabulous · 22/01/2020 12:26

Jersey in the Channel Islands.

PickAChew · 22/01/2020 12:29

I'd also say Tynemouth but throw in Seaburn if you don't have a Tynemouth budget.

Myyearmytime · 22/01/2020 12:32

Bournemouth
Much much better that Herne Bay

Glitterfisher · 22/01/2020 12:40

Southsea (Portsmouth) good primary schools, good private secondary schools and state schools generally improving, lots of nice areas to live just outside of the town also so away from busy city but a short drive away

cherrypieandcustard · 22/01/2020 12:52

Wow thanks for all the responses I will take a look through them!
