We’ve been given a big pot of it and we’re not planning on having the kind of pudding you’d serve it with anytime soon so is there anything I can make with it?

@FlamingoAndJohn that's an interesting fact! Does that mean you should avoid is while pregnant, as with unpasteurized cheese?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 21/01/2020 18:30

it's lovely in carbonara style pasta, I use this recipe. you can also use it in this hotpot recipe. this thread is making me want a scone...

It’ll last weeks in the fridge, there’s no rush

Metheven · 21/01/2020 18:40

@ThursdayLastWeek not in my house it doesn't. Lovely on ice cream, and also with chopped up banana with a bit of sugar.

Dowser · 21/01/2020 19:22

Warm scones, strawberry jam..and the biggest spoonful you can get on it

Drools

Strictly dairy free..sob
I miss this the most

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/01/2020 19:27

I quite like it with jam on a cream cracker!

rookiemere · 21/01/2020 19:28

Add it to curry sauce or use it in a particularly indulgent pie.

Feelingabitashamed · 21/01/2020 19:29

It's bloody delicious in cauliflower cheese or mutter paneer

raindropsfallingonglass · 21/01/2020 19:34

It’s surprisingly good on a hot cross bun. It also freezes quite well so you could just pop it in the freezer if you don’t want to use it now

Tartyflette · 21/01/2020 19:35

It's also ok* on pancakes with, oh, I don't know, just about anything - jam, maple syrup, fruit compote, bananas, ice cream.
I remember as a child we used to holiday in a little Cornish fishing village and the local shop, The Cove Stores, would do you a cone of proper Cornish ice cream with a dollop of clotted cream on top.
Now that was how to eat clotted cream.
*absolutely divine.

rollonoctober · 21/01/2020 19:36

I got a curry recipe in my Gousto box last week that used clotted cream - I was very sceptical but it was lovely!

Tartyflette · 21/01/2020 19:39

It's also very good indeed melting oozily over a hot Sticky Toffee Pudding.
DS calls it Pudding Butter.

MoMandaS · 21/01/2020 19:40

Fettucine Alfredo - look up Orlando Murrin's recipe on BBC Good Food.

VioletCharlotte · 21/01/2020 19:41

You could just freeze it until you need it?

YogaLite · 21/01/2020 19:44

Tiramisu? Apparently mascarpone is basically clotted cream.

ioioitsoff · 21/01/2020 19:46

Put it on top of a baileys hot chocolate

ioioitsoff · 21/01/2020 19:46

Or make a ginger pudding

SisterAgathaVanHelsing · 21/01/2020 19:47

Bread, golden syrup, clotted cream. Called "Thunder and Lightning" in Cornwall. And no calories.

wowfudge · 21/01/2020 19:49

Rabbit clotted cream is cooked.

QueenOfOversharing · 21/01/2020 19:56

Make some shortbread (my failsafe recipe attached) and add fruit.

What can I do with clotted cream?
ninnypoo · 21/01/2020 20:26

Mix with garlic, parsley and a bit of lemon juice and serve dolloped on chicken escalopes for a home made chicken Kiev (ish).

PullingMySocksUp · 21/01/2020 20:28

I’d buy some berries. Frozen will be fine. Put them in a pan with a bit of sugar so they’re warm and squishy. Eat with clotted cream. Yum. Easy. Healthy. (Berries, so must be, right? Grin)

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/01/2020 20:28

@RhymingRabbit3 unpasteurised cheese is fine in pregnancy as long as it’s hard cheese

I use clotted cream in curries

morrisseysquif · 21/01/2020 20:51

You can freeze it, it defrosts perfectly.

I would put my finger in the pot every time I went to the fridge. Grin
