Anyone used one of the sleepover set up companies

My daughter’s 7th birthday party coming up. I’ve promised her a sleepover for 3 friends.

I came across a sleepover set up company - they set up what looks like a beautiful sleepover set up. A real treat. Pics attached.

Now - usually i would think - bloody hell, that’s a bit much! What’s the big deal on doing it yourself. However I’m a single parent with health issues and the thought of setting up, finding bedding etc etc is overwhelming at present time.

Anyone used one of these companies and what did they think? Worth it? Cost for this is £160 for 4. Budget can stretch to it fairly comfortably but needless to say - don’t want to waste money if not good value.

Many thanks

Please no judgement. As I say - health issues and single parent so can’t off load

I haven’t used one. But I take the view if you can afford it and given your health problems it is worth it to you for the ease and time saving factor then go for it. I think they look lovely.

I think that looks like good value, if you consider how much it would cost to buy all that stuff individually. And think how much youd spend on a party somewhere, hiring a hall, all the food etc
I think it looks like a lovely idea and would really impress your daughter and her friends

I would have loved that as a little girl!

FenellaMaxwell · 13/01/2020 09:39

Be really careful - there were several of them who turned out to be scammers, there were threads on here about it.

HelloYouTwo · 13/01/2020 09:39

I’d look into it very carefully. I seem to remember a thread on here last year about one of these companies being complete rip off merchants / scammers.

If it’s a proper company who deliver then why not?!

Are they they new MLM schemes?

DesLynamsMoustache · 13/01/2020 09:41

Check the reviews to make sure they are legit but otherwise I'm firmly of the opinion that sometimes it is definitely worth paying for convenience so go for it!

RebeccaCloud9 · 13/01/2020 09:43

I think they look cute but actually a bit annoying. They don't look sturdy and do the tent things just get in the way? The beauty of a sleepover is there's no real cost! You could easily get some snacks, hair do stuff, cushions or toys or whatever suits your dd, fairy lights etc and make it nice yourself for much less.

Grumbley · 13/01/2020 09:44

Do you have any friends that can help you set up? Could your daughter help? £160 for one night is a lot, when we were that age we just slept in sleeping bags on the floor quite happily! If you have the space, I would buy a few sleeping bags and keep them, but obviously up to you. It does set the bar quite high though, you might find the expectation is that every sleepover is expected to be as extravagant.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 13/01/2020 09:46

My friend has used one which my daughter attended. Looked beautiful and friend said the cost was absolutely worth it as it took away so much hassle, they came in and set it all up, then came back the following day and took it all away, all she had to do was provided floorspace measurements.

Do be careful choosing your provider though, as per previous posters.

keepingbees · 13/01/2020 09:46

I know someone who does this as a sideline, but yes be careful who you choose.

To me it's expensive, but you've got to factor in the owners time, travel expenses, cost of the items you're borrowing etc so I guess it's proportionate.
Why would anyone judge you? If you can afford it and want to do it then what's to judge? Plenty of people must use them else they wouldn't exist.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 13/01/2020 09:50

That said, it is pricey, and for just 4 children you could do very similar yourself for a lot less (couple of strings of fairy lights, maybe a nice furry blanket that they each get to keep, a light box, and some fabric draped/pinned around the place). £60 tops.

I have for my DD recent 7th birthday. We also hired a hot tub and they had a blast. The set up came with a rail of dress up clothes I made them goody bags so they all had matching pjs and face masks etc. We did jewellery making, karaoke, watched a movie with pop corn and played a few games. All in all it cost £300 which is less then a soft play party and her day lasted all aft and eve my DD still raves about her special day.

StrawberryDreamX · 13/01/2020 10:05

Looks lovely, I'm sure your dd and her friends will love it. I'd say it's a but over priced but if you can afford it then go for it!

Housewife2010 · 13/01/2020 10:05

It does look lovely, but if you decide against it, remember that you don't need to provide bedding for the sleepover. For my children's sleepovers, I always ask their friends' parents to bring a sleeping bag/quilt and pillow for each child. I also arrange the sleepover on a WhatsApp group so I can ask who has a camp bed/ blowup mattress they can bring. Don't worry about providing bedding for all the children ( and all the laundry afterwards).

RightEarlobeBreath · 13/01/2020 10:06

All these make me think of is bed bugs.

lovemenorca · 13/01/2020 10:38

Thank you so much, really

I think I might go ahead

No worries about the company. A close friend used
