Tarvin Road Littleton

Hi
Probably not the correct place to post but looking for local knowledge!
Am looking at houses on Tarvin Road (beside Vicars Cross Golf club) and love the houses but not the road, the road noise isn’t a problem but how do you get off your drive to join the road?? Sounds ridiculous I know but can’t see any obvious way ie side streets to turn on or roundabouts. Any suggestions greatly appreciated-especially if you live there.
Thanks

It’s not a good road to join. I think I mentioned that issue on your other thread. Crossing the traffic at busy times of day can take a while. I use that road a lot and join from that side. On occasion I head towards Tarvin and turn off at Stamford bridge and use the lights to turn back to Chester.

However if you’re still talking about the commute to Ellesmere Port I turn off at Stamford bridge then drive through Barrow to join the A56 at Morley Bridge. Turn left in Wimbolds Trafford and you emerge at the A5117 in Thornton le Moors.

Or you can go through Guilden Sutton and Mickle Trafford to join the M53 at Hoole Bank.

Depends where you’re headed in EP

Hi
Heading to Stanlow. Looking at other areas, viewed houses in Upton Lane and although very nice prefer something further out with bigger garden and this house seems to offer that, although after driving past can see the road is a big issue!

If you’re heading to Stanlow then the route through Wimbolds Trafford takes you to the doorstep.

I’d move the search towards Mickle Trafford, Guilden Sutton, Barrow, Helsby and Alvanley.

Sorry posted too soon but this has bags of potential. You may be looking for a fully finished property but I’d love a project like this Smile

Lookingatlocations · 13/01/2020 11:10

Hi
Had spotted this - would be happy to do renovation if buying price was £400k ish with spend of upto £200k ish but think this project to big and and too £££ for me!

£400k probably a bit too low for alvanley Smile. I agree that it’s a bit spendy for a project though. Costs could easily run away. I’d be looking at it as a ten year plan

Did anyone else come in here thinking this was another 'judgemental baby name' thread? Or just me?

We looked at Tarvin Road once but were completely put off by the noise.
I think you'd be a lot better off going into Guilden Sutton or Littleton Lane or Christleton.

This one is between the two schools in Christleton and apart from school run times is a lot quieter.

TalbotAMan · 13/01/2020 13:08

Oops. Not the one I was thinking of. This one is up by the Anglican Church, and probably even further away from the traffic.

Itsagrandoldteam · 13/01/2020 13:22

That road is often a complete nightmare. I love looking at all the lovely houses whilst I'm stuck in solid traffic. I always think it must be awful to live on that road, with the traffic noise and not being able to get off your drive.
It is a really nice place to live, but I wouldn't live there. At least that first house isn't too far from the A55 roundabout, you can always turn around there.

Lookingatlocations · 13/01/2020 14:13

Just realised how close Tarvin Road is to Chester! Beginning to get an idea of locations and everything is pretty close. Chester and around is a small place, Thinking of looking further east towards Northwich - any recommendations welcome!

I wouldn’t go that far but Kelsall, Tarvin etc are nice. You’re committed to the A51 for your commute though

Lookingatlocations · 13/01/2020 15:29

Hi how far do you think would be a reasonable 40 min commute?
Thanks

OP posts:
Jins · 13/01/2020 15:40

It’s not the distance so much as the roads you’re using and how busy they can be. I’d use Kelsall as my outer limit but look at Mouldsworth and Delamere as well. Kelsall is very nice. Co-op and pharmacy, couple of nice pubs Village events like steam fairs etc. Public transport poor in the evenings though. Other villages round there are lovely as well but you need to drive around there to get a feel for the roads and how you’d enjoy commuting from there.

Frodsham is worth a look as well

WildUnknown · 13/01/2020 15:42

I almost moved there a couple of years ago.

It's an extremely busy road.

Lookingatlocations · 13/01/2020 15:45

We are driving out to Sandiway tonight so will have a look around that area. An estate agent told me Frodsham has ‘rough bits and poor air quality’ ?!

Wildunkown - did the busy road put you off buying there?

Rough bits and poor air quality?

How to sell a market town Shock

The bits in your budget are up the hill and fine. Don’t rule it out without a look

WildUnknown · 13/01/2020 15:58

@Lookingatlocations

No it was a rental opportunity that fell through at the last minute.

Fatted · 13/01/2020 15:59

I remember your original post. Tarvin Road is a terrible road to travel along in rush hour and you would be waiting forever to get out of your driveway.

For places like Northwich and Sandiway, you could do the commute to Stanlow in about an hour or less depending on traffic. You are reliant on the A51/A54, M56 or smaller roads through Frodsham and Helsby though.

Frodsham probably has much better air quality than the house on Tarvin Road frankly.
