Baby has been different after her 4 month vaccine. I'm worried

Ever since my baby had her 4 month vaccine she has been acting different. First day she was fine but after that she got reflux and had pain so we will start giving her nexium. But it's been 7 days and she's a totally different baby. She's not as happy and doesn't laugh anymore and seems sad. She smiles a little but sometimes just has a grumpy face. I'm not sure what could have happened but I'm so worried I read something about autism and vaccines and it's been driving me crazy thinking that could be whats going on with her 😔

Autism / vaccine link had been repeatedly disproven. Take her to your gp.

Itsashame · 12/01/2020 18:36

There’s no link between vaccines and autism op. It could be that the jabs have just put her a bit under the weather

BettaSplenden · 12/01/2020 18:36

Vaccines don't cause autism. Vaccines can cause people to feel a bit pants afterwards- babies included.

Babies are born with autism, OP. They do not acquire it.

Your baby has probably had a viral infection for a few days and is now getting better.

The vaccine has nothing to do with it.

nespressowoo · 12/01/2020 18:37

Autism isn't caused by the injections.

Worriedmomma123 · 12/01/2020 18:38

Thank you all I'm just really worried. She does smile and laugh to my mom and others

Babies are generally grizzly and not themselves around the 4 month mark. It's a perfectly normal side effect of a huge developmental leap.

Also, no vaccines cause Autism and your baby is too little to have been given the vaccines that people were worried about anyway.

userabcname · 12/01/2020 18:52

4 months is a notoriously difficult phase. My first was a nightmare between 4-6.5 months. It has nothing to do with vaccines.

hidinginthenightgarden · 12/01/2020 19:09

The bollocks surrounding the autism thing was about the MMR which is age 3? It was utter rubbish and all articles should be permantley removed from the internet!
My DD had her booster shot 5 days ago and has also been a grumpy mare. It is normal. We usually see a spike in the effects at around 5 days after and then they are back to normal by 10 days.

Submariner · 12/01/2020 19:12

There is a wonder week/sleep regression/development leap at 4 months. Almost like clockwork many babies get grumpy or fractious or forget how to sleep. It's because they are learning lots of new skills.

Submariner · 12/01/2020 19:15

Consider also as humans we are programmed to look for patterns so you will attribute grumpiness to the vaccine because it is an environmental factor that you are aware of rather than all the many changes that are happening at the same time.

namechangenewness · 12/01/2020 19:19

As pp said, some argued that it is the MMR vaccine given at 1 years that causes Autism - this is of course rubbish. Quite normal for them to feel unsettled after the jabs but also as they go through different developmental milestones.

Sumsuch · 12/01/2020 19:19

Hope your baby perks up soon

BallacheForLife · 12/01/2020 19:49

For goodness sake it baffles me that people are still stupid enough to believe vaccinations cause ASD. Also ASD does not equal miserable babies 🤦🏼‍♀️ honestly.

It's been a week. If you're that worried why haven't you been to the doctor?!

ByeMF · 12/01/2020 21:00

Vaccines cause healthy kids. There are numerous peer reviewed studies showing that VACCINES DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM.

Your baby might be teething. A bit under the weather. But they haven't suddenly development a neurological condition which research suggests is genetic.

ByeMF · 12/01/2020 21:01

Developed even!

Magstermay · 12/01/2020 21:07

Is the Nexium on prescription? As others have said autism is not caused by vaccines.
If you are concerned she is not well see your GP.

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2020 21:10

Take your baby to HV or GP. They won't mind if there's nothing wrong. And if there is they can help. Medics understand how worrying but is being a new mum

heartsonacake · 12/01/2020 21:10

Vaccines do not cause autism. That “study” was proven to be entirely made up.

Pr1mus · 12/01/2020 21:17

😂 I can't believe somebody actually believes the whole vaccines cause autism rubbish! It is a neurological disorder that you are born with and children don't display any traits until at least 2 years old. I think your little one is perfectly safe from that one..

On a serious note if your baby has been unwell for 7 days you should probably take them to the GP. Fingers crossed they feel better soon 🤞xx

UhKevin · 12/01/2020 21:22

Also ASD does not equal miserable babies

Slight derail but my ASD DS was one of the happiest little lambchops in the land and I’m just saying so because this made me remember and smile Smile

As you were Blush

ArabellaDoreenFig · 12/01/2020 22:39

Well my DS was a very smiley happy baby who laughed lots and he has autism so im not sure what possible link you think there is between your DD not being smiley and happy and autism.

Why don’t you educate yourself about autism instead of posting ridiculous bigoted ill informed nonsense.

ginandbearit · 12/01/2020 23:07

Bloody hell some snotty comments here..give her a break a worried mum looking for reassurance not condemnation for her 'ignorance' ..sheesh

Broccolia · 12/01/2020 23:12

It’s very likely your dd could have had a reaction to the vaccines and be feeling less than 100% or could be a sore injection site or similar

Could be a virus

Could be teething

Could be a reaction the medication she is having

On your shoes I’d make a gp appt and go with an open mind but hopefully she will be better soon.

I have 2 dc with ASD. Both fully vaccinated although one very late (had mmr aged 10!) and I can tell you she was v much autistic way before then and they are fully vaccinated as asd dc and hospitals/illnesses for us dont mix so we want to keep them well

orangina · 12/01/2020 23:21

FWIW OP, my dd got silent reflux after each of her infant jabs. We treated her with infant gaviscon and tilted her mattress and it took a month or so to get rid of it each time. I didn't make the connection between the jabs and the reflux until after the third jab. Reflux could make her grumpy (I thin k it would make me grumpy)...
