It's My DD's 11th birthday tomorrow, and she has requested a 'Party tea' that I would have had for my 11th birthday.

So far I am doing sandwiches, party rings, sausages on sticks and a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, but I know I am forgetting loads!

Please remind me what I am missing, I would be so grateful!

Ooo jelly diamonds! I had forgotten those. My dm decorated everything she made with those!
I always had pink and white coconut ice at my birthday parties. And cremola foam.

Earslaps · 09/01/2020 22:35

Pink wafer biscuits
Cherryade
Those strawberry mousses that's came from the freezer section and nobody ever remembered to get them out of the freezer in enough time to be properly defrosted.

Earslaps · 09/01/2020 22:36

that came

Autocorrect has been going crazy recently

crankysaurus · 09/01/2020 22:50

Can you still get those strawberry mousses?

Earslaps · 09/01/2020 23:11

Probably not! I loved them though. I have seen them in a shop within the last year but can't remember where!

crankysaurus · 09/01/2020 23:19

I'm going to have to keep an eye out now. Will definitely post if I spot them.

Tortoiser · 09/01/2020 23:20

Handmade hedgehog birthday cake

Groovee · 09/01/2020 23:23

My 11th Birthday party was a Mr Wimpy!

Idontkowmyname · 09/01/2020 23:25

Traffic lights - Kit Kat fingers with red, orange and green smarties
Top hats- marshmallows dipped in chocolate with a smartie on top.

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/01/2020 23:28

I think that you will need a Pernod and black to drink when it's all over.

boatyardblues · 09/01/2020 23:29

If Phileas Fogg still do those crunchy mini garlic breads (mignon morceaux?) they came out in the 80s and were only served at my parents’ posh parties because they were too sophisticated for kids. This disn’t stop us clearing the bowls at said parties

Gold bars came out in the late 80s - knock-off Caramac on a biscuit. What’s not to love?

boatyardblues · 09/01/2020 23:32

Choc ices and cream soda - also big in the 80s. Toasted sandwiches.

BodenGate · 09/01/2020 23:33

Amazing! I want a 1980s party now! Definitely skips, wotsits, monster munch and hula hoops for the crisps
Marshmallow top hats and party rings
My mum used to make traffic lights using chocolate fingers and smarties, stuck on with melted chocolate!

boatyardblues · 09/01/2020 23:36

Didn’t M&S launch the chicken Kiev and prawn mayo sandwiches in the 80s too? Mini Kievs would be good party food.

catwithflowers · 09/01/2020 23:38

Primula cheese piped onto Ritz crackers
Jelly and Dream Topping (give it a whirl) 🤣

BodenGate · 09/01/2020 23:43

Oh yes and jelly and ice cream! Dairylea sandwiches?

SandAndSea · 09/01/2020 23:46

Has anyone said Arctic Roll?

SM33 · 09/01/2020 23:48

Tortoiser
Hand made hedge hog cake!!!! Definitely the cake to have - I loved it. Chocolate buttons as the spikes. I’ve tried to find the recipe but to no avail!!!

MiniMum97 · 10/01/2020 00:09

Proper home made trifle with Swiss roll

Chocolate Swiss rolls

Club bars (do they still make them?)

Cola floats

Soda steam.

MiniMum97 · 10/01/2020 00:10

Oh yes definitely fondant fancies.

MiniMum97 · 10/01/2020 00:12

I e thought about doing a 1980s dinner party with things like angel delight and findus crispy pancakes.

Louise91417 · 10/01/2020 00:19

Ice cream float...preferably made with cokeGrin

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 10/01/2020 00:53

You lot are absolute gold!

She had a fab party, most of the suggestions here were used, except you can't get Phileas fogg any more, and my Mum provided the birthday cake at DD's request, which was a carrot cake rather than a hedgehog/ladybird cake.

We all consumed massive amounts of cheese and pineapple, frozen sausage rolls, fondant fancies - and of course, jelly and ice cream, among other things.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, we all had a blast.

That sounds so much fun! I'm thinking I could do with an 80s party myself!
