What I eat in a day *toddler edition!

jomaIone · 07/01/2020 12:27

I'm a bit stuck in a rut about what to feed my not particularly fussy 21 month old who is an exceptionally slow eater and more of a grazer. Although will polish off a full evening meal if in the mood/it's her favourite! So indulge me, what are your toddler's eating today?

Mine

Breakfast
Banana
Seeded toast, butter & honey

Lunch
Cheese on toast (this is what she has nearly every day, as it's quick and reliable!)
Cherry tomatoes
Apple
Mini cheddars

Snack will be 1 pancake with peanut butter, maybe a few raisins, and blueberries

Tea will be homemade fish pie, peas and sweetcorn.

Today my ds has eaten.
Porriage
Satsuma
Grapes

Vegtable soup
Bread and butter

Grapes
Jaffa cake

Cheesy pasta
Yoghurt

9oz milk before bed

Smurf123 · 08/01/2020 18:53

21month old

Breakfast
2 weetabix with milk

Snack
Fruit pouch

Lunch
Pancake, waffle, grapes

Snack
Custard, Apple

Dinner
Stew and a slice of garlic bread - he ate the garlic bread happily. Eventually I fed him the mouthfuls of stew while he fed himself 2 petite filous - me sneaking my spoonful in every second one of his 🙈🙈

Supper might be oats and strawberry skyr to make sure he is full before bed then a small cup of warm milk with his bedtime story..

I've found that adding ketchup or mayonnaise for him to dip in makes it more likely he will eat the food.. Mind you his Christmas dinner was a bowl of weetabix. He would happily eat breakfast and fruit pouches for every meal of he could.

Breakfast can be any comb of
A Weetabix
Jam and bread
A croissant
Grapes
Apple
Orange
Boiled /poached/scrambled egg
Toast
Cheerios
Cornflakes
Yoghurt

Cold/Lighter meal
Cheese/ham/nut butter/tuna sandwich
French toast
Soup
Egg
Crudités and hummus
Fruit
Yoghurt
Beans on toast

Main meal
Pasta bakes
Fish fingers are her absolute favourite!
Baked potato
Sausage
Lasagne/Spag bol
Cottage pie
Mild curry and rice
Any combo of pasta with protein I can dream up!
Baked tomatoes (large Tom, hollowed our and an egg inside, bake)
Risotto

I find it easiest to meal plan meaning we manage to get the variety in. Also if I do a lasagne for the adult evening meal she'll have a mini one the next day :-)

Everything has veg in it!

Rkay2 · 08/01/2020 19:57

My fussy toddler will now only eat potato products: waffles, chips, plain pasta
He eats only select fruit: strawberries, easy peelers, apples, bananas

Typical day
Breakfast: 5-10 multigrain hoops with no milk
Snack 10am: homemade carrot or banana muffin
Lunch: fruit, paratha bread ( the only thing he eats), yoghurt
Snack: cheese crackers
Dinner: waffles, cheese and tomato pinwheel or plain pasta
With fruit
Milk before bed

But he eats a range of other meals at nursery!
Oh and he also hates eggs.
I feel like all I do is cycle the same meals for him even though I always try something new on his plate it doesn’t work!

jomaIone · 08/01/2020 20:04

@Smurf123

Mine is the exact same. Ketchup and mayo will encourage to eat anything! And breakfast for all meals... Definitely.

Tonight she refused to even get in her high chair for her Bolognese. When I sat down for my prawn pasta she happily ate it all... So I reheated her leftovers for myself and she ate half of that as well. Absolute tinker.

We have had a busy day out today and she hasn't napped but we have had a really lovely day as a family today 🥰

Breakfast - slice of seeded toast with peanut butter and honey, half a banana, half a satsuma

Lunch (at a cafe at a NT place)

  • adult portion cheese toastie, cucumber, tomatoes, crisps (ate all except crusts!)
  • carton apple juice

Snack

  • half pack quavers
  • few bits of apple

Dinner

  • offered leftover fish pie but wouldn't even try it. Gave her some ketchup but just ate spoons of ketchup and no pie.
So she's having ready brek 🙄

My youngest is my worst for eating, we are under dietitian and paediatrician. He has food allergies and is autistic with sensory issues. Yesterday was considered a good day as he's been poorly recently and eats nothing.
Breakfast - soya milk hot chocolate and 2 packets of prawn cocktail crisps and gummy vitamin
Lunch - McDonald's. He eats a burger, no bun and fries.
Dinner - alpro chocolate milk and 2 packets of prawn cocktail crisps
Snack - licked a mini gf df cupcake and 3 pom bear crisps
He does drink water when ever thirsty.
