Would you let your 10ds walk home at night?

Ds goes cubs and is due to start scouts this term. Dh normally takes him and collects him as it finishes at 8.15 and he leaves for work when he’s on nights at 8.30.

Dh works shifts some two Monday’s a month he won’t be able to pick him up.

It’s 0.8m and takes 15 mins. He has a mobile phone and it’s a straight road past shops.

I don’t know what to do 😩

No way.

viccat · 05/01/2020 10:15

No.

Kpo58 · 05/01/2020 10:17

Are there noone else in the group walking in the direction of your house that he could tag along with?

firstimemamma · 05/01/2020 10:17

No.

Foxton20 · 05/01/2020 10:17

No one I know. Normally his best mate goes cubs and we split the duties but he won’t be moving up yet as he’s younger 😩

No way.

Sicario · 05/01/2020 10:18

Nope.

SushiGo · 05/01/2020 10:18

No, daylight with people around would be one thing and in most cases okay depending on the route but that's probably too far in the dark/evening.

Is there a reason you can't collect? Can you offer to lift share with another parent so DH does it the days he can and other parent covers the days he can't?

There is usually a Facebook group for each scout pack, I'd post on there and ask about liftshares. By this age there are always parents keen to do them!

zoobincan · 05/01/2020 10:22

I don’t know what to do

Collect him yourself?

Foxton20 · 05/01/2020 10:22

I can’t find a Facebook page but Iv posted it on the local community page.

I don’t drive and have a toddler who will be in bed. I have a 12 year old who can sit while dd3 is in bed if I meet him half way

I really really wouldnt

user32564567 · 05/01/2020 10:25

I'd leave the 12 year old with the toddler and walk to meet him.

You don't need to drive, it's less than a mile away.

Just leave your 12 year old with the sleeping toddler. They will be fine.

zoobincan · 05/01/2020 10:26

Oh, and not half way. He is 10. Collect him and walk him home.

Foxton20 · 05/01/2020 10:26

Ok il do that! Sounds the best option! Thank you

Sorry but you’re a parent so you’ll have to figure it out.

Either take the toddler with you or find someone to watch him.

Please don’t let a ten year old walk in the dark

fedup21 · 05/01/2020 10:27

I'd leave the 12 year old with the toddler and walk to meet him.

I would do this.

Don’t only walk half way though-why would you??

Namechange8471 · 05/01/2020 10:27

Maybe learn to drove also.

isitpossibleto · 05/01/2020 10:27

Not a chance. I’d be paying for a taxi

Foxton20 · 05/01/2020 10:28

I can’t drive as I have a medical condition.. but thanks.

The 12 year old will be fine watching a sleeping toddler.
