Did anyone find any of the old wives tales to be of any use or is it as I fear, just a load of bs? I have 3 days before induction and he’s shown no signs of coming out.

Quinine found in tonic water has been thought to release oxytocin and studies have found that moderate amounts can help aid contractions.
I drank 2 pints all at once and took my raspberry leaf tablets along with them a week before my due date. Woke up next day in early labour.
Dont know if it was a complete coincidence but it might be worth trying. Hope you have a great experience. Congratulations x

Sorry. I didnt drink it for a week. I had acweek to go. Drank 2 pints before bed and woke up next morning in labour. So 7 days early.

Waking (as quickly as possible & up and down stairs) helped me I think

happytoday73 · 28/12/2019 09:50

I took the top layer of skin offmy tongue on so much pineapple... No effect at all.
A nice relaxed calm evening where you feel safe and secure, massage and sex... Good luck...

I went for a huge walk and then labour started 3 hours later, but i was a week overdue so it may have just been my time anyway!

TooMinty · 28/12/2019 09:54

Building flat pack furniture! Not really a traditional one that...

PinkSpring · 28/12/2019 09:55

Now 40+6 and tried basically everything and so far nothing has worked - including three sweeps by midwifes. If I have to be induced I will be angry as it means no home birth - but I have literally done all I can do

forevercurious · 28/12/2019 09:55

I tried walking, eating pineapple and using a birth ball. He came a week early but not sure if any of those things helped or not. Good luck ☺️

Magpiefeather · 28/12/2019 09:56

I had a sweep, long brisk walk, scrubbed the floors, raspberry leaf tea and sex. Not sure which did the trick but woke up in the middle of that night in labour. Probably a combination of all those things. Worth a try eh?!

Good luck!

Comps83 · 28/12/2019 09:56

Sex is off the cards and I don’t fancy going for a walk by myself today (and weather is shit) but will attempt a walk tomorrow .Might try the stairs idea today though

Spicy Thai curry, lots of walking, plus raspberry leaf over a few days then a lovely massage and sex - a few hours later I woke up with my waters going. A week earlier and a threatened induction looming also. Good luck!

Playing on the swings in the park!

Thecathouse · 28/12/2019 10:01

Using clary sage oil massaged on the bump and also in an oil burner worked for me, started on my due date and it started off contractions bit not regular to start and worked properly within 48 hours

PrincessFionasShoe · 28/12/2019 10:02

I was two weeks overdue, nothing worked until my midwife booked my induction. I went home and sobbed got on my ball and some 27 hours later I was holding my baby.

I honestly think once I knew there was an end to what felt like the worlds longest pregnancy, my body relaxed and decided enough was enough.

But also, it was probably just timing considering how overdue I was.

Good luck!

IHeartKingThistle · 28/12/2019 10:03

Erm, glass of bubbly worked for me...

ShowOfHands · 28/12/2019 10:11

Nothing works. For every person who says I did x and labour started, thousands will do x and nothing will happen. That's because its coincidence. I genuinely ate jaffa cakes on the two days my respective labours started. Did they start labour? Of course not.

Raspberry leaf tea isn't even associated with the onset of labour. It's a uterine tonic meant to make your pushing stage more effective but over the last decade, people have started erroneously linking the two and suddenly it's cropping up on these threads as a labour induction technique.
Your baby will come when it is ready. Good luck!

His eviction notice is up on New Year’s Eve . Much rather he came naturally , I’ll be 40+7 by then

Stretching. I really had to stretch to hang up a picture in my room. 2 hours later contractions started

I went up the M4 in a motorbike side car to start off DS2...

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/12/2019 11:40

I don't think anything helps really, it's just coincidences.

DobbyLovesSocks · 28/12/2019 11:46

Agree it's all just coincidence but sex was the catalyst for me. Wasn't intentional as I was 36/40. When my waters broke a few hours later midwife told me to come in as I would be admitted. 10 hours later I was holding my DS

ThePenIsBlue · 28/12/2019 11:50

I’ve had 4 and the only thing that ever worked finally, with my 4th, was when I pumped using a breast pump. Had no signs before, but 5 hours after stopping I was in labour

Comps83 · 28/12/2019 11:59

I have a feeling that if anything is going to be beneficial it’s going to be exercises
