....and especially if you've ever marched/campaigned for a 'People's Vote' or indulged in a bit of Leaver or Tory shaming on Twitter or facebook, can I have your comments on this please?

It's Jonathan Pie, in case you don't want to click without knowing what it is.

I voted remain and didn't vote Tory but was under absolutely no illusion that the left would win! All my friends, family and my OH voted not Tory also, but I certainly know people who voted Tory (although not anyone under the age of 70). Would never shame anyone for their vote, and dontbuse Facebook or any social media.

Don't know who Jonathan Pie is and didn't warm to him!

Takeyoutothehorsedentist · 16/12/2019 12:27

*don't use

Takeyoutothehorsedentist · 16/12/2019 12:29

Forgot to add, I didn't march or campaign for a People's Vote but hugely supported the idea.

marchingonwithmother · 16/12/2019 12:35

I can not think of anytime I've heard the word "staunch" used other than when discussing politics.

Not relevant to the thread I know Smile

slipperywhensparticus · 16/12/2019 12:51

I assumed that the people who voted tory thought they had very good reasons for doing this I've not referred to people as thick etc and I think it's very demeaning to be permanently accused of this

Helmetbymidnight · 16/12/2019 13:23

I'm not taking responsibility for Boris Johnson, that's absurd.

I don't like Corbyn but I held my nose and voted for him because I didn't want to vote for the shit lies of a Tory/Boris Brexit.

I live in one of the biggest Brexit areas in the country - the South East. I find most of their reasoning for Brexit racist and stupid. Many I know personally voted Brexit to get the Muslims out. Am I not allowed to talk about this? Am I supposed to get behind this?

I'm afraid Pie is guilty of some of the same crap stereotyping in this vid that he thinks he is fighting against.

confusedandemployed · 16/12/2019 13:25

I thought he had a point. Nevertheless I still do not understand why working class people voted Tory it for Brexit, if they had read all the manifestos.

AllideasAndNoAction · 16/12/2019 13:36

I'm not taking responsibility for Boris Johnson, that's absurd.

How nice to see a bit of humility and reflection on where it all went wrong for you.

OP posts:
Helmetbymidnight · 16/12/2019 13:58

'where it all went wrong for me'??

what do you mean?

BertrandRussell · 16/12/2019 14:06

Yep. He’s right. Not entirely sure what those of us who are committed to Labour policies but don’t support Corbyn were supposed to do on Election Day, though.....

AllideasAndNoAction · 16/12/2019 14:21

Helmet you got a Tory government and no chance of a second referendum. Was it not obvious?

OP posts:
WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/12/2019 14:35

This. But Jonathan Pie is not a real person, it’s a character played by a comedian.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/12/2019 14:35

I need to show humility that BJ is PM?

I don't understand what you are saying here?

What is it exactly you want to hear from me?

Helmetbymidnight · 16/12/2019 14:36

I need to take responsibility for Boris being PM?

In what way do you want me to do that? I'm fascinated by the idea that I was responsible for this.

TheresWaldo · 16/12/2019 14:41

I didn't vote "for" Jeremy Corbyn. I voted for the Labour candidate in my local constituency. I take no responsibility for Boris nor for Brexit.

Helmetbymidnight · 16/12/2019 14:44

Apparently its on you and me, Waldo. We need to show some humility now.

BertrandRussell · 16/12/2019 14:45

“ How nice to see a bit of humility and reflection on where it all went wrong for you.”

What does this mean?

MaMaMaMySharona · 16/12/2019 14:46

The blame for Johnson lies at the feet of those who voted for him.

I did not vote for him, nor did I vote for Brexit. I wash my hands of the whole thing.

nancy75 · 16/12/2019 14:48

Going by that the left were the only people being insulting?

You might want to have a look at some of the pro Brexit, pro Tory people on twitter - I would suggest katie Hopkins as a starting point for the type of hate spewed out by the right.

I did vote Labour & I am a remainer.

My vote was influenced by the fact that I live in a constituency that has been Tory for the last 160 years and Labour were the only (slim) chance of voting them out.
The Tory MP that we have has recently been ranked as the 642nd (out of 650) least responsive MP to his constituents - why would I consider voting for that?
Most people that I know who voted for Brexit are racist - I haven't wasted my breathe telling them that but it doesn't change the facts

greenlobster · 16/12/2019 14:52

How strange.
Was that meant to be comedy or does he have mental health issues?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 16/12/2019 14:57

Helmetbymidnight I agree with your post. I live in East Anglia, mainly hardcore Tory and Brexit. I am neither.

Our town has almost no immigrants but people still moan and make comments which are undoubtedly racist. Half the people here think Johnson already has trade deals, they don't know what the Withdrawal Agreement is. I cannot believe the lack of knowledge. (Being polite here.)

I voted against this every step of the way so as for taking responsibility, fuck that.

BertrandRussell · 16/12/2019 15:42

“ How strange.

He’s a “character”. Like The Pub Landlord. Or Alan Partridge.

aintnothinbutagstring · 16/12/2019 16:01

Errr no, I voted remain (though wouldn't say 'staunch' remainer, I feel I've moved on and accepted the democratic result) and was quite fond of the JC. But I'm friends with lib dem voters and Tory voters (live in a Tory stronghold), actually my own DH voted conservative (doesn't fit into the demographic, is a black immigrant public sector worker). Though I liked the JC, could see why many didn't, not patriotic enough perhaps, scruffy, vegetarian, tee total Confused. I'm a northerner so can sort of understand the swing to conservative as they were the only party promising to move forward with Brexit. That's pretty much why my DH voted Tory as he's sick of the deadlock.

aintnothinbutagstring · 16/12/2019 16:04

And no, I don't think Tory voters are all racist, what about Jewish constituencies that have swung to conservatives? Misguided in some cases, but I feel they genuinely feared Labour getting in.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/12/2019 16:05

I voted Remain and voted for Labour. This video just makes me think the guy is a twat.
Hmm
