Feeling anxious about the election result

Just that really. I am terrified of a Jeremy Corbyn government. A Home Secretary who can’t even match her shoes is the least of my concerns. But if he spends all this money it won’t be us or our children paying the bill but our grandchildren. How can people be so naive regarding all the free stuff.

What about Boris then? A bit of a rascal with the ladies AND he's a posh boy! ShockGrin

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/12/2019 20:22

Boris is disgusting but he isn’t planning on spending a trillion pound of taxpayers money.

I’m with you, I feel worried about either the Tories or labour getting in. They are both terrible in different ways and the damage they’re likely to inflict on the country is immense. If there’s a hung parliament then we will have more of the same stalemate we have had for the last 3 years which is also damaging and depressing. It feels as whatever the result, we are stuffed.

Probablythatone · 12/12/2019 20:23

It’s been like trying to work out which is the best option between Ebola and Bubonic Plague.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/12/2019 20:27

I really don’t know where we go from here. The two parties are so far apart there is nothing for normal centrist supporters anymore. We could wake up in the morning with a socialist government going on a massive spending spree.

squaresandsquares · 12/12/2019 20:28

I'm labour and so many of my Tory friends voted labour . I'm excited!

90schic · 12/12/2019 20:29

money being spent on schools, universities and hospitals is a bad thing OP?

90schic · 12/12/2019 20:30

You will seriously not be thousands out of pocket I really don’t see what the anxiety is about. Put down the right wing newspaper and take a Valium hon

squaresandsquares · 12/12/2019 20:31

Lol 😂 90chic agree

scissy · 12/12/2019 20:33

We were discussing this in work the other day. Although our analogy was would you rather be shot in the head or stabbed in the heart HmmSad
We were lamenting politicians (of both colours) from the past- they don't seem to make them of that quality any more.

FaFoutis · 12/12/2019 20:35

Deploy some critical thinking and you will be fine.

LessIsNotMore · 12/12/2019 20:37

Labour won't get in, of course. The interesting bit will be how large or small the tori majority is and, locally, which way swing seats go.

ForalltheSaints · 12/12/2019 20:38

I don't think there is a chance of a Labour majority.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/12/2019 20:38

@scissy I completely agree regarding politicians of yesteryear. I watched a documentary on Mikael Gorbachev last night. We used to have giants of politicians on the world stage now we have Trump, Johnson, Corbyn and Abbott. What the hell went wrong.

GreyGardens88 · 12/12/2019 20:40

Put down the Daily Mail. If Corbyn gets in and we don't like how it goes we can just get rid of him in a few years. At least there will be a second referendum and a chance of cancelling brexit, that's why I voted labour

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/12/2019 20:40

@LessIsNotMore @ForalltheSaints I really hope you are right. This country needs to move forward from the last 3 years. I never wanted Brexit but I believe in democracy.

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 12/12/2019 20:41

I'm worried in case the Tories get in!! The rich will get richer and sod anyone else.
The right wing press have had it in for Corbyn since day 1. I don't think he is PM material theh again neither is Johnson who the right wing press love. However he is a bloody good MP and the Labour party align most closely on my beliefs.

QueenBlueberries · 12/12/2019 20:42

yep just stop watching Laura Kussenberg and you'll be fine. Tune in to channel 4, have a glass of vino, there may be a bit more funds for schools but I think we're strong enough as a country to survive that.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/12/2019 20:42

@GreyGardens88 and how much debt will they have run up on the UK’s credit card? We, the taxpayers have to pay it. Nothing is free.

tabulahrasa · 12/12/2019 20:45

“We, the taxpayers have to pay it. Nothing is free.”

Do you think people don’t know that?Hmm

Nonnymum · 12/12/2019 20:45

I'm terrified of a Boris Johnson Government, how can people be so naive as to vote for a lying, misogynist who uses racist language.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/12/2019 20:45

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2019/11/13/the-tories-have-borrowed-67-5-of-uk-national-debt-since-1946/

A few tax/debt facts for you OP

Probablythatone · 12/12/2019 20:46

GreyGardens yep that was my thinking too and what finally helped me make a decision between right and left. I’m in a safe labour seat here so no point voting for Lib Dem . I voted on the basis that labour would offer a referendum if they got a majority (virtually impossible) and if they got enough votes to ensure the Tories don’t get a majority, a coalition should result in a softer Brexit if we end up having to leave the EU. I’m not the brightest person but this was my thinking and my understanding based on what I’ve read. I loathe Boris and Corbyn but out of the two think Corbyn might not run the country into the ground as fast as Johnson is doing,

stoplickingthetelly · 12/12/2019 20:48

I’m terrified of Boris getting back in. I actually can’t believe he’s even allowed to be PM after he lied to the Queen!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/12/2019 20:49

@Probablythatone

Agreed Grin

Really like being between a rock and a hard place.
