Looking for Christmas tree decoration ideas, i usually always have a colour scheme but I think I want a bit of mix and match this year

Have decorations dating from 1930 onwards .

Here's ours. Silver, white and teal/ice blue with lots of clear glass bits too. Can't find the tree skirt though, and have a horrible feeling it got thrown out by accident, so I think I'm going to need to get a new one.

One of this years trees. Fairly pleased with it. Normally I go for the 'just put everything on it' look but this year I decided to go with more of a theme.

Wow, the trees posted are lush! Just tried to take a better pic of mine and this is as good as it gets without me taking everything off and starting again! I'm more rustic than artistic

I am loving this thread and the variety, wouldn't it be a boring thread if we all had the same idea about the "right way" to dress a tree. They are all fabulous.
We have two up. The first year ever not having a real tree in the sitting room. Four years ago we made the decision but ended up putting that tree in the hall where it now makes a yearly reappearance and going out for a real one. However a couple of days ago I buckled when I saw pot grown Norway pines at half price. So we have one for the dining room as well, just arrived today. It was the smell I was missing, hopefully this one will smell delicious.

A rather shameful 4 here, but we do have all the family Christmas day. It means that folk can wander into different rooms and get some peace and quiet but still feel Christmassy! These two are real and are in the drawing room and dining room. Drawing room is red and gold, dining room is silver white and crystal stuff. I love my trees and we add a bauble or two to each tree every year so they're all full of happy memories. Lots of scrambling for your favourite to put on the tree.

These two are artificial and much more of a mash up. The madly gaudy fun one complete with all the things the kids have made over the years and a train in the living room. The last one is in the kitchen. We go a bit mad and flashy in the living room and have a competition for the silliest, tackiest Christmas decoration each year. Dh very fond of led Christmas pictures!
