Missing Amazon parcel - tracker says has been delivered

Igotitfromajumblesale · 29/11/2019 07:23

According to the tracking, my parcel was delivered by Royal Mail at 10:06am on 27th (Wed)

Its says delivered to 'safe place' which is a bit vague but I've searched all obvious (and non obvious!) places where a parcel could be hidden and haven't it

Just wondering if the tracker is sometimes in inaccurate so worth leaving a few days first or whether I should report it to Royal Mail and/or Amazon?

have you looked in your back garden? in your bin? sometimes they take a photo

Moondancer73 · 29/11/2019 07:26

Have they taken a photo and uploaded to your amazon? I've had this done before and it was at a neighbours, in their porch. I generally find if you report it straight away they tell you to 'wait 24 hours' which I find incredibly annoying - plainly if it's not there, it's not there. If there's no parcel I'd start kicking up fuss to be honest

ElluesPichulobu · 29/11/2019 07:26

check your Amazon settings - there's a place where you are supposed to define what you consider a safe place - you may have put something in there months or years ago and forgotten?

If delivered by Royal Mail, contact them

Chocolatecake12 · 29/11/2019 07:29

Amazon tried to deliver a parcel to me which was for the next toad same door number, and not for the first time. So I’d definitely get in touch with them.

SnuggyBuggy · 29/11/2019 07:29

Has it been delivered to someone else?

Igotitfromajumblesale · 29/11/2019 07:30

I've already searched the garden/bins etc and there is nowhere it could be hidden. It's not a tiny item so parcel will be quite large.

Contact Royal Mail. Their delivery scanners log the exact coordinates where the status was actioned, so they'll be able to tell you whether he was outside your house or your neighbours, for example.

If you don't get anywhere with them report it to the sender.

Urgh Amazon are terrible for this.
My emails were down over the weekend and I had ordered an Alexa (which wasn't due for delivery untill the Monday) we were out all day Sunday and when we got home I managed to fix emails and got one saying the parcel had been delivered via person!
We found it by the bin outside, no letter through the postbox or anything! It had been raining all day and I'm surprised it hadn't been nicked to be honest.
I looked how to complain but basically had to contact the delivery company via dodgy looking number and couldn't be bothered 😂
(Not a helpful post for you really, I hope you get your parcel sorted soon)

MyNewBearTotoro · 29/11/2019 07:34

I had this with a parcel recently and it ended up in my neighbours recycling bin despite it not being on my property or looking like it belonged to me. It was several days later when my neighbour thankfully noticed.

Did the driver leave a note saying anything more specific than ‘safe space?’ Mine had put ‘blue bin’ but it didn’t occur to me to look in the neighbour’s bins. If they haven’t even left a note I’d be thinking it must have gone to the wrong house.

Igotitfromajumblesale · 29/11/2019 07:36

No note received through letter box which makes me think it could have been delivered to the wrong address

Contact your local depot. When left safe rm pdas make the postie take a picture.

Cric · 29/11/2019 07:39

We had an amazon delivery the other day and it said 'left with a person at house'
Was just left on the door step, no attempt at hiding it or even bothering to ring the bell (we were in the house at the time)

RunningKatie · 29/11/2019 07:42

My recent Amazon parcel was left in a safe place. Which according to the delivery person is on the front steps in full view of the road. I would be contacting them asap.

SnuggyBuggy · 29/11/2019 07:50

I one had a slip saying it had been left with a specific neighbour, checked and she didn't have it and then found it in the recycling bin. Really odd

always2ndbest · 29/11/2019 07:50

This has happened so many times to me and I've never got my parcels. I have a safe place set up on my amazon account, my neighbour always takes parcels in for me if I'm not home, and I do the same for her. But despite stating deliver to neighbour at number 14, they sometimes leave it on the doorstep which is in full view of people walking/driving past. Open plan driveway on main road! I've rung amazon to say I've not received the parcels and they have refunded me but it's so annoying as I buy a lot when it's on the lightening deals and then to replace it I have to pay full price! The drivers are under so much pressure to deliver hundreds of parcels in such a short amount of time they just don't seem to care where or how it's delivered.

statetrooperstacey · 29/11/2019 07:53

Call Royal Mail and or speak to your postie.

statetrooperstacey · 29/11/2019 07:54

PP is correct they will tell you where it was scanned, so 30 Arlington crescent or 39 Arlington rd .

NannyR · 29/11/2019 07:56

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago - the tracker said that they had left it in the porch (I don't have a porch???) and I didn't get a card through the letterbox. Amazon sent out another parcel no problem.

MsRomanoff · 29/11/2019 07:56

I had this. Was wrapping presents last night. Realises 2 gifts werent in the boxes. Assumed they had been delayed.

When I logged on, the 2 items were in a parcel they were recorded as delivered and 'handed to householder'. I emailed amazon and they emailed back 2 hours later saying they were refunding me.

When you email them about missing items they ask you to check the surrounding area of your property and neighbours. Which I did. But they sorted it straight away for me.

TrickyD · 29/11/2019 09:28

I had ordered an item for DGCs. Delivery on Monday 25th specified (Amazon Prime) . By 10pm nothing had arrived we were leaving to go abroad at 4am on 26th.
Tracking said delivered at 9.36 pm on 25th handed to resident, correct address.
Furiously I rang Amazon.
Lengthy phone call on bad line with difficulty in understanding.
Kind woman eventually refunded the money but I couldn't reorder as it had been a 'deal' now expired, so she also gave me a credit, enough to buy the item at the non-deal rate.
Fair enough.
Arrived back last night,
Item had been put through the letterbox.
Moral dilemma: should I ring Amazon expecting to give complicated explanation, refuse my refund and ask for credit be removed?
Or should I just forget it?
Item only cost £5.99 but it was something I knew the kids would love.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 29/11/2019 09:33

@TrickyD I do think you should call and let them know as the item has been delivered.

OTOH I order a Christmas present (a book as part of a 3 part gift). It arrived and the quality was shit so clicked the 'return item' option and gave the reason. They refunded the cost and said I don't need to return so I wrapped the book anyway.

TrickyD · 29/11/2019 09:54

Giveherhell, I was hoping they might say just keep it if I rang them.

I know I should tell them and will go to eternal hell if I don't but still......

GiveHerHellFromUs · 29/11/2019 09:56

@TrickyD ah sod it, treat yourself, it's Christmas Wink

underneaththeash · 29/11/2019 09:59

@TrickyD I'd let Amazon know, as it's low cost they'll probably tell you to keep it.
