Hi
Im looking to set up as a seller on "not on the high street"

Anyone already using it ? Is it worth it ?

I think they take 30% of the final price , can you sell at crat fayres etc with the same stuff ?

Anyone buy on it ? the prices seem really high ( to me anyway) ,

Id really appreciate any info as a buyer or a seller, thanks

I buy presents a lot from NOTHS Smile

KittyFourPaws · 24/11/2019 20:42

oh , thanks .for the reply

what sort of stuff do you buy ?

Im looking to do tiny photo albums filled with 18 of your own photos, hand made so I'd need to sell for £15+ to make it feasible.

In real life they get a really great reaction , but as they are tiny they don't look like they should cost much

Can you show us?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/11/2019 20:44

That doesn't sound much for what it is tbh. I'll link to what I've bought recently. ...

I buy a lot on it, dp has particular tastes and they seem to have a lot that he likes so his gifts often come from there.

To be honest I think you will struggle with photo albums at that price. The likes of freeeprints etc mean few people bother with proper albums.

Bellasblankexpression · 24/11/2019 20:54

It’s a nice idea but as a PP Has said there are loads of apps where you can print your photos for free now, as well as really cheap photo books you can get printed (we got a lovely wedding one done for £20 so £15 sounds like it might be a bit steep but hard to tell until I’ve seen a photo).
There’s also a lot of home printers around now that make it very easy to create these yourself in different sizes.
I think they’d have to have something very special and unique about them, maybe additional personalisation or something?

I buy presents on there and lots of my friends use it too.The last purchase I made was a "Christening decorating kit". I like using the site,it's easy to navigate and I often end up buying more than I intended. You are kept up to date via e-mail,everything has arrived on time and I've always been happy with the quality of my purchases.I suppose you could get things cheaper if you really shopped around. I don't mind paying a bit extra for good service and a pleasant online shopping experience.

It's very hard to get accepted on not on the high street. Do you already have products or just an idea? They will want to see an actual product.

the mini albums in leather covers, also a mini HP spell book with mini magnifying glass.

Is etsy not more for your pitch?

It looks nice though.

I used to sell on there.

On the plus side the seller app is pretty intuitive and has some nice features.

However, the selling fees are much higher than other online market places (they were charging me 25% vs 10% on Amazon).

Added to that, if you want to use their marketing tool to generate interest by getting your products listed on the top "shelves" as they call them on categories like "gifts for her" you'll find the fees per click eye wateringly expensive. I found we could burn £100 per week on marketing, whereas on Amazon I could spend that in a month to generate the same number of clicks and sales.

Other points to note, any product you sell on there has to be unique ie you can't sell the same thing online anywhere else. So that means being exclusive to them or creating a unique offering.

Finally they have much tighter restrictions on photo quality than Amazon/EBay. I eventually had to invest in professional photography to capture images they would accept.

Overall I stopped using them - the margin I was making was minimal and unless you can throw loads at marketing and sell in significant volumes it just wasn't worth the effort.

I'd also add that since finding this I've also stopped buying from them - simply because I know everything so overpriced because of the fees they charge and I've yet to find anything on there that I can't with a internet search find similar for far less.

As Allthepinkunicorns says, it's a curated site so you have to be accepted and the products need to be impeccable. Have you thought of testing the waters on Etsy? It's a busier marketplace so can be harder to get noticed, but you can try out different price points and so on.

KittyFourPaws · 24/11/2019 21:09

DRmortis

that's really helpful info, thanks

do you still sell online ?

No I don't anymore OP.

puppymouse · 24/11/2019 21:11

It's always my go to site for presents for adults - especially women. Never had a bad experience either. Lovely stuff on there and often you grab something that looks like it would have cost a lot more than it actually did.

wanderings · 24/11/2019 21:14

I find the adverts for NOTHS quite annoying when I browse MN; I bought from there a few weeks ago, and they're literally jumping off the screen at me (gallery of photos, which keep getting bigger in turn, hard to ignore). So I don't know if that puts some buyers off.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/11/2019 21:14

I would also suggest Etsy OPSmile

KittyFourPaws · 24/11/2019 21:20

what's the main difference between the two as far a buyers go ?

I have used them. I bought a pair of otis jaxon earrings, they were lovely. I lost one :-(

And then I bought a pair of bee earrings in the style of Alex Munroe , concession was Lucy Collins I think. The earrings never arrived and she refunded me. I was relieved she believed me. Although maybe they were never sent because the pricing seemed too good to be true if they were accurately described!

Anyway, no bad experience!
