He's made an official statement.

"It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.

"I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

"His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

more like it !

Is he going to spend more time with his pizza oven?

Or is he just stuck in one of Woking's never ending traffic jams?

SpiderCharlotte · 20/11/2019 18:33

Thanks @peridito, I was trying to post an attachment of the statement and couldn't. Smile

About 8 years too late. Andrew should have done this when he decided to stay with Epstein after he was released from prison. At this point, he had decided money was more important than integrity.

SnorkMaiden81 · 20/11/2019 18:34

'Did you give your Ma'am and Dad an anniversary present?'

'Yes, my resignation...'

PicsInRed · 20/11/2019 18:34

Truly an absence which will be keenly felt.

Now, let's hear more about the rumoured underage activities of Lord Mountbatten and also more around Charles' association with the famous pan-pervert Saville.

Outsomnia · 20/11/2019 18:37

He can do this, others in his position could not.

I suppose he is doing this to fend off media and other scrutiny.

The upcoming daughter's wedding will be the next outing, whenever that happens.

The rich will always be protected. It is a very damning statement imo. But onwards we go. Nothing we can do really is there?

PicsInRed · 20/11/2019 18:37

In fact, I'd like a "who knew what and when" on every senior member of the royal family and their senior staff. Far too much squiffy business there to be a coincidence.

Wildorchidz · 20/11/2019 18:39

I read yesterday that Mountbatten introduced Savile to the Royal family.
Same article referenced Mountbattens links to the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast

TheQueef · 20/11/2019 18:39

I doubt we will see him down the dole.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 20/11/2019 18:49

I think this is a little hasty. Who will do all the important jobs that he...
Oh, wait. Never mind.

PinkiOcelot · 20/11/2019 18:58

Has he actually been “working” for the royals lately?!

formerbabe · 20/11/2019 19:00

Oh no, such a shame, especially when he's such a popular member of the royal family.

If he's stepping back from public duties, will he stop receiving public money?

I'm not quite sure how the Royal Family is funded (how much and what proportion comes from the public purse) but I feel quite strongly that his funding should stop now.

Elodie2019 · 20/11/2019 19:07

Oh no, such a shame, especially when he's such a popular member of the royal family.

Haha!!

Am curious to know what exactly his Royal Duties were!

I have never seen him do anything. But maybe he was the perfectly silent member of the Firm who got things done and sought no kudos for his efforts...... right.

I am shaking with laughter at the idea that he will step down. From flipping what!

MonsteraDeliciosa · 20/11/2019 19:15

Will he still receive his royal salary (or whatever it's called these days) for doing nothing?

lolawasashowgirl · 20/11/2019 22:02

Best intro ever on Radio Four ten o'clock news tonight. "The Duke of York marches himself down the hill" Grin

Guineapig456 · 20/11/2019 22:07

Will the palace confirm if PA stops receiving his royal “salary” now he’s stepping down?

Akire · 20/11/2019 22:07

I’ve no idea what he does either, maybe a few own little charities he chooses. Hardly end of a career is it. Unlike most of us giving up work isn’t going have any impact on his daily life or budget. If it was one of the other royals they would least leave a void, him not really.

atankofskunks · 20/11/2019 22:12

I agree re the money. Step down, absolutely but the money should stop immediately.

KayakingOnDown · 20/11/2019 22:16

He did stuff. He came to the opening of a new office near me.

He'll be missed. Hmm

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 20/11/2019 22:25

I recall that the royal daily appointments are/were published in the Telegraph. I used to see what he was doing and then work out the distance to the nearest decent golf club. Usually wasn’t far.
