Hair disaster

The first one is me and the second one is what I wanted. To be honest the picture makes it look better. It looks grey in most lights. I literally look like I'm wearing a Halloween wig. I have a wedding the weekend after next. Is it possible to get it dyed again that quickly (it would have to be this Friday/sat)? I'm feeling really down about
it, but I don't want to destroy my hair even more if dying or so soon after is going to ruin my hair. Anyone been in the same situation?

It looks fine to me. What makes you feel it's a disaster?

It looks fine

If you don't like it, or don't feel it's what you asked for then I don't think you'll ruin your hair getting it done again this weekend.
But I think it looks nice and not like a Halloween wig at all!

PastTippingPoint · 13/11/2019 07:44

I think it looks nice, it's just not as subtle as well what you wanted.

I'm not a hairdresser or anything but they may be able to tone the highlights ? Have you spoken to the salon who did it?

whatsinthebagwhatcoulditbe · 13/11/2019 07:44

It looks exactly like what you wanted... I like it!

habipprtyh · 13/11/2019 07:45

I'm with the others. I can't really see that it's hugely different to what you asked for. I like it.

expatinspain · 13/11/2019 07:56

The pictures are honestly making it look better. My daughter thought my hair was grey when she saw me last night and a little girl I teach asked me why I painted my hair!

expatinspain · 13/11/2019 07:57

It's literally stripes, not the natural tone I asked for. The bleach is like ash blonde.

I do think it looks very similar to the look you wanted, but in the photo where you are outside I can see some streaks that look grey.

Are you the Duchess of Cambridge? Grin

Hair looks fine to me.

expatinspain · 13/11/2019 08:33

StCharlotte Unfortunately not 😂

Have you spoken to the salon who did it? They already put a toner on it as they made an error in how long they left the bleach in. It was white to start with. They charged me for the toner too!! My Spanish isn't really up to complaining/refusing to pay etc and I was late for work after being there nearly four hours. My Spanish mother in law is going to speak to them for me, as she knows them, but I'm not really up for going back. I know a good but expensive salon, where I can go to get it sorted out.

I think it looks fine but it won't hurt the hair to re dye it, if that's what you want to do.

PastTippingPoint · 13/11/2019 20:17

Can you style it so it's a bit less obvious? It's rubbish when you get a bad hair do. Earlier this year I went to a local salon as my usual hairdresser was on holiday for 2 months, and the woman destroyed my hair with bleach Sad I also got charged extra for a toner and she didn't even cut it straight Angry so I do sympathise!

onthecoins · 13/11/2019 20:31

The photo of what you wanted looks more like balayage than highlights. It looks painted rather than a solid line from the roots. What they've given you is highlights.

I'd be tempted to put a dark copper toned colour over it. Better dark red than grey?

doctorboo · 13/11/2019 20:59

If you don’t fancy going back to the salon I think you’d be fine buying a semi permanent, or 8 wash colour that matches your original hair colour, just to get you past the wedding, it’ll leave you with more natural tones.

EdWinchester · 13/11/2019 21:01

It just looks like you have a couple of grey streaks - not horrible.

Timetobegood · 13/11/2019 21:04

I think it looks more or less the same. The effect may be different over the next few weeks as you wash it.

expatinspain · 13/11/2019 21:46

It really doesn't look the same as the picture.
It looks much worse in real life than in pictures, I can't capture how witchy it looks. The colours don't go together at all and the blonde is really harsh against the dark brown. The brown is nice, it's just the highlights that are the problem. More people have commented on it today; my neighbour, my boss, another student I teach. I'm going to go to another salon and get it fixed this weekend.

It looks grey to me as well, but I think the second picture (the one you wanted) looks grey too! I have the same colour hair and those highlights would look grey on me as well. I would maybe put a temp colour on it to match your actual colour for the wedding.

GoBackToPartyCity · 13/11/2019 21:51

Your hair reminds me a little bit of my disaster! I asked for balayage and got this. All I could do was to get a hair dresser to put brown dye over the top to dull the stripes.

expatinspain · 14/11/2019 06:14

Gobacktopartycity Mine looks very similar to that, apart from my stripes are more uneven and more ashy. Do you have a picture of what it looked like after you got it fixed? Did you go back fairly soon to get it done?

OP posts:
expatinspain · 14/11/2019 06:19

I took this picture in some brighter light last night. My hair is also breaking where they have put the highlights. This has never happened before.

Definitely put a browny colour on. The bleached highlights will soak it up like blotting paper and tone it all down.
