I've been bazukaing the bastards, and they're just spreading!?

Just rang gp surgery, as dd is really struggling with them now. Reception booked us in to see nurse tomorow, but said theres nothing they can really do?

Something must work surely??

Banana skin and gaffer tape - apparently

RiftGibbon · 11/11/2019 08:55

Have just been putting liquid plaster on DC's before swimming lessons. Beyond that, nothing.
I don't think they're now classed as of much of a problem as they used to be.
Release my entire post is probably not very helpful!Confused

AllTheCakes · 11/11/2019 08:56

Pregnancy worked for me, but I guess that’s a bit of an extreme approach Grin

Apple cider vinegar got rid of one of mine too. Soak cotton wool with it and tape over it overnight.

Time.

They are caused by a virus and will disappear in time. My 10 year old has had them too but they're getting a lot better.

timestheybeachangin · 11/11/2019 08:56

The freezing method worked on my DD’s using a kit I got from Sainsbury’s

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 11/11/2019 08:57

Yes we are in the throes of varruca hell.

Plasters with cider vinegar every night.

They will be gone in less than a fortnight.
I've done this several times with my 3 kids. Works a treat (thanks Mumsnet!)

SophieLeGiraffe · 11/11/2019 08:59

The freezing thing. I bazukad for weeks and NOTHing. Froze them off and done.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 11/11/2019 09:00

I’ve had one for absolutely years. After years of just being a hard ugly bit on my foot, the fucker has recently decided to start hurting. I have to wear a cushioned plaster on it permanently or I end up with a sore knee because I’m overcompensating. How the fuck can such tiny tiny piece of sore foot cause so much trouble?!

BastardGoDarkly · 11/11/2019 09:00

Ah thanks folks.

I've got cider vinegar, I'll start that tonight.

They're just under the toe creases, so shes really moaning struggling Confused

They're just under the toe creases ouch!! Shock I’m curling my toes at the very thought of that!!

BastardGoDarkly · 11/11/2019 09:02

I get paid Friday, so I'll get freeze stuff then too. This is war.

Duct tape for a couple of weeks worked for my dad. She had loads of them.

Branleuse · 11/11/2019 09:04

You need to file them down a lot and soak feet in organic apple cider vinegar with "the mother" still in it.
Filing down is importsnt because the virus is very good at remaining undetected by the immune system and just keeps building more walls around itself. Filing it down to expose it, means the immune system sends fighters to the area to tackle it. Apple cider vinegar is brilliant on stuff like this.

JumpiestBat · 11/11/2019 09:06

Go to a private chiropodist if you can afford it. Around 30 quid for the proper chemicals on it. NHS rarely bother these days, my son was on a list for cryo treatment for NINE MONTHS. I just gave up, took him to the chiropodist round the corner and it had gone in a fortnight

heidipi · 11/11/2019 09:07

Another vote for cider vinegar with the mother - worked in a few weeks on my bad boy!

CouscousEvaporator · 11/11/2019 09:08

The only thing that worked for my particularly stubborn one was making it bleed. I softened the skin, poked it with a sterile needle a few times. Two weeks later it was totally gone.
I had tried EVERYTHING. I had tried leaving it alone. I got it when I was about 11 and I still had it aged 24. I had tried going to a podiatrist. My body did not attack it on its own.

Obviously needling is a bit painful so might not be suitable for your dd but that is the only way I’ll be treating mine in future!

ThePix · 11/11/2019 09:09

Salactol paint from our GP painted on every night for 2 weeks got rid of a huge cluster covering the heel of my 6 year olds foot. It was brilliant!

Grafittiqueen · 11/11/2019 09:09

Duct tape. My Dd had the most enormous verruca. Was gone in a few weeks covering it in duct tape.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2019 09:12

Freezing. Not Bazooka but by a professional. Then use a caustic pencil and foot file on it every couple of days. I had a verucca for nearly 3 years and tried everything but that was what finally worked. Don't waste time and money on banana skins, duct tape or OTC remedies - get thee to a chiropodist!

smemorata · 11/11/2019 09:16

DD's went with Bazooka. Mine lasted for years and years and I finally got it destroyed after THREE visits to chiropodists. It really annoys me that doctors refuse to treat them anymore. Verruccas can be really painful. I also had several days off work after the treatment as I couldn't put my foot to the floor! If the doctor had treated it when it was still small, it wouldn't have spread and become such a nightmare.

foxatthewindow · 11/11/2019 09:21

My 5yo had a hideous one, that I think has mostly gone now. I had very little success between April and August treating it daily, it was just spreading. We tried the duct tape thing for a few weeks, and I think it just went on its own. I think the sanding and filing actually spreads them. He did have his tonsils out over the summer though, following repeated and near constant tonsillitis, so there could have been an immune system factor involved too

PiggyPlumPie · 11/11/2019 09:23

I had mine dry needled at the chiropodist. Had had them for years and tried everything from banana skin to duct tape to bail varnish.

Alwayssaythewrongthing · 11/11/2019 09:42

Clear nail varnish worked for us

troppibambini · 11/11/2019 09:50

Take her to a chiropodist. My daughter had around 20 in one area. The chiropodist had them gone in a few weeks.
She had to soak her foot in a in a bowl of purple liquid (potassium something maybe?) after two weeks of soaking the whole patch of them just peeled off it was a thing of wonder....

HolyheadBound · 11/11/2019 09:55

Are you filing as well as bazukaing? DD1 had three on one foot, and filing EVERY night, as well as putting bazuka on had them gone, but it took 2 months. Once you see the black seeds though, they go really quickly.

Bit like nits, persistence is the only way I find.....
