I've been bazukaing the bastards, and they're just spreading!?

Just rang gp surgery, as dd is really struggling with them now. Reception booked us in to see nurse tomorow, but said theres nothing they can really do?

Something must work surely??

There is no sure fire cure. We can’t 100% cure any virus, there is only vaccination & your immune system.

Nobel prize in it for the person who does cure a virus.

Trillis · 11/11/2019 12:13

DD had loads - at one point about 15-20 on 1 foot. We tried the scholl freeze spray but it didn't work. What cleared them in a couple of weeks was some Wartie liquid that you just dabbed on.

The same wartie liquid did nothing to the huge verucca on the ball of my foot though. I've now had it for quite a few years (I got it from DD, not the oher way around). I'm bazookaing it at the moment, but I've also tried just about all the home cures I have found on the internet and nothing has shifted it so far.

Skinnychip · 11/11/2019 12:25

I've had one for about 4-5 years. Another one I had , and DDs ones have disappeared when we went on holiday (DH says it's the sea water but not convinced as the stubborn one that ive had 5 years has clearly come on the same holidays!!!😂) recently started filing/painting with black nail varnish and I'm sure its receding.

Patience and apathy. We tried allsorts, only thing that works apparently is the body deciding to get rid of them. My daughter had about 40 at one point on her foot. Looked one day and they had just gone - could see the faint outline of where they had been. A podiatrist told me that the only adults he ever sees who have problems from having verrucas as a child are those who had them frozen off/cut out.

GinNotGym19 · 11/11/2019 12:33

My dd had a couple of horrific ones that clung on for a year. The only thing that worked for us was -
Bazuka and black nail varnish on top.
After a month I was able to pull them out fully with tweezers. Huge one came back but only took a week to get rid of the second time around

CactusAndCacti · 11/11/2019 12:34

We used a freeze kit. Took quite a few treatments.

I think accidentally trapping her toe under the chair when I sat on it was what finally did it though

starlight36 · 11/11/2019 12:34

We used nail varnish and it worked on some really stubborn ones that we used various OTC remedies. I was amazed that it actually worked as it was so simple.

PoppetyPing · 11/11/2019 12:39

@BastardGoDarkly the NHS wont treat them they are now unfunded. You need a chiropodist, I found one that charges £25 per session, needed about 4-5 weekly sessions. They put acidic cream on them. When they are then small enough you buy occlusal £5 to paint on them and they disappear and never come back. Had mine for 15yrs before seeking proper treatment after years of crap over the counter waste of time treatments. Good luck x

Our DS had a huge verruca on the side of his big toe when he was 7. The filing down and bazooka method was too much stress and the doc and swimming teachers said, leave it and it will go.

About 8 months later on holiday, my DH said 'OMG, it's gone black' and I said that's good, it's going. It was gone by the time we came back from the beach hols.

Bohemond · 11/11/2019 12:51

Go and see a private foot specialist. My 4 year old had a terrible deep verucca which we wanted to sort before going on holiday. We had 4 appointments and cost was around £60 in total.

tisonlymeagain · 11/11/2019 12:55

In my experience of trying EVERYTHING I can honestly say it's just time. Eventually your body and immune system kick in and sort it out. They literally disappeared overnight one day.

zafferana · 11/11/2019 12:56

Bazuka! It's brilliant. Got rid of DS's verucca in about 3 weeks of daily application. I was very impressed.

Ravenrob · 11/11/2019 12:57

My friend said Scholl Freeze worked on her son but I haven't tried it myself.

Fucket · 11/11/2019 13:02

I had one for over a decade, then a friend of its appeared and then another one. I duct taped for about a month they were very soft. Then I used the scholl medicated plasters. They worked!

Various other home freezing and bazuka treatments did bugger all.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 11/11/2019 13:02

DD1 is 15 and has had them for many years. The only thing that has worked is something called Verrugone, like bazuka but much stronger. They're finally starting to go.

JumpiestBat · 11/11/2019 15:05

The body doesn't realise they are there as they are in the hard upper layers of the epidermis. That's why they tend to feck off when they've got to a certain size and begun to impact into the softer tissue with the blood supply. Once your body's immune system can detect them they usually get rid of them quite quickly. So it's not that the virus is incurable just that the body struggles to notice them even if we do.

BastardGoDarkly · 12/11/2019 12:44

They're black! Does this mean they're going to go?

Put cider vinegar on them last night, but it was a flat out no to filing of any kind.

Dh will still take her to nurse tonight I think, just to get them checked.

I has a really stubborn one recently and was so painful when walking. I had tried bazuka , apple cider vinegar, wart freezing stuff on and it was clear nail varnish that finally got rid of it for me. I filed it down every night then applied clear nail polish and in a couple of weeks it was gone. No more pain when walking. Seems to be hit or miss what works. The apple cider vinegar did reduce the size of it though for me.

ExpatInAGrump · 12/11/2019 13:35

DS has one three years ago and we salicylic acided every night with tape. He wouldn't let us file. We thought it had gone after two years but 5 weeks ago we saw it had spread and multiplied and he had a patch of 30 or so clustered on the ball of his foot.
We are being aggressive this time. Salicylic avid twice a day, covered by duct tape. He still won't let me file but he will let me snip the white skin off with a small penknife. We've been doing that every night and it is now about half the size and the ones around the edge have gone.

He won't entertain the idea of freezing, but I'm not sure it works anyway. I have one that it didn't shift. I'm doing the same routine as DS now and mine, I think, has gone. (How do you tell if you're coating it every day with the acid?)
