Selling smelly shoes to fetish people?

ChocolateWillies · 07/11/2019 12:42

I didn't know where to put this so I put it in chat.

I've obviously namechanged.

A couple of weeks ago I posted something on Twitter about still wearing a pair of 20-year old shoes. Today a man (I assume) had DMed me. I looked into the account and the tweets are a bit seedy but not problematic. I think he's a 'submissive' and has a few interactions calling women 'mistress'. He also has a few others where he'll comment on a woman's post about shoes basically saying along the lines of 'I'll pay £50 for your shoes. Can I DM you'.

I'm hard-up ATM, I could do with extra cash.

You know where this is going....

Has anyone had experience of selling their old shoes to people with a fetish? I've read a couple of articles but I could do with a conversation about this. I remember a thread a few years ago on this but I can't find it now.

I could really do with the money from this but feel a bit weird.

@ChocolateWillies maybe I could be a circus performer, or a spy, or a professional athlete! :D

LemonPrism · 07/11/2019 14:27

I'd ask for £100

sableandI · 07/11/2019 14:50

Go for it. I would Smile

ffswhatnext · 07/11/2019 14:53

Oh I know extremely narrow-minded

You get quite a few erm looking for a gift request 🤣 I just think if you going to do it at least own it. If I really cared I wouldn't be flogging stuff.

For the more 'adventurous' of you. Yes you can sell your old whip, paddle, flog, restraints and anything else.

In all seriousness though, just be honest with what your selling and remember the buyers are still people and it takes an element of trust to welcome you into their world.

Selling smelly shoes to fetish people?
LemonPrism · 07/11/2019 15:34

@ffswhatnext you sell things because they're dry clean only? How odd

userxx · 07/11/2019 15:37

I've done it. Weird as fuck but I got £50 for a pair of really old trainers.

INeedNewShoes · 07/11/2019 15:42

Well, I'm skint so...

If selling through eBay using Paypal, will the buyer end up with your address? Obviously there's a safety concern to this if the buyer ends up with your contact details in any way.

Whattodoabout · 07/11/2019 15:44

I did it once. I sold my old work shoes on eBay and got twice the price they were actually worth because I posted a pic of my feet wearing them... They weren’t open toed or anything so you could literally just see the top of foot. Anyway a man with an old school name bought them.

jobbymcginty · 07/11/2019 15:48

My friend told me to list a pair of scabby slippers on eBay for a laugh. eBay removed item and told me to stop selling fetish items as it was against policy 😂

ffswhatnext · 07/11/2019 15:56

What’s odd about it?
I’m not particularly attached to the item. It’s one of those things that you will get around to doing.
Sometime later I’m decluttering. Clearly don’t care about it as it is still in need of a wash.
I could take it to the cleaners and sort it out then sell it.
Or I could list as it currently is and make more.

What would you chose?

I’ve also done the same with some handwash stuff that kept getting left at the bottom of the basket.

Of course if it didn’t sell then I can still wash and sell it elsewhere. I don’t have to worry about listing fees so I can take more chances to see what sells and doesn’t.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/11/2019 16:01

A friend of mine did this after advertising a pair of shoes on ebay as 'well worn'. She did this as they had been quite expensive but didn't want to rip anyone off or mislead them. She got quite a few 'interesting' replies and ended up selling a few other pairs.

INeedNewShoes · 07/11/2019 16:04

A pair has sold on there today for £56!

Hazardd · 07/11/2019 16:05

I keep thinking I should do this. I'm a full time carer and could do with the cash.

What about socks? Odd socks? Odd as in not matching not weird Grin

sue51 · 07/11/2019 16:10

DH has just cleared out a pile of his old shoes and was going to drop them off at a shoe recycling bank. I'm now thinking there might be a market for them elsewhere. People are strange.

BrassTactical · 07/11/2019 16:12

Where do you sell if not eBay? Asking for a skint friend Grin

ProseccoIsTheAnswerHere · 07/11/2019 16:25

Apparently ballet pumps are where it’s at. I have a pair of stripper boots I keep meaning to try

SkySmiler · 07/11/2019 17:13

#SoFloofy - that's mental!

Chocolate50 · 07/11/2019 18:37

Yh tell him you've got loads of really smelly shoes for £50 a pair. Lol

JaneJeffer · 07/11/2019 19:51

December Grin

ChocolateWillies · 08/11/2019 11:05

I got a message back!!

"This might sound odd but would you potentially be open to selling them for more than they are worth?"

Shock

The thing is I'm actually quite attached to these old shoes I've got. I don't wear them that much but they represent a particular phase of my life and are quite sentimental. That sounds insane! I know I should just ask £100 for them and get rid but I feel attached to them. I'm such a weirdo.

So I'm thinking of messaging back and saying something like:

"To be honest, I'm really attached to them so not looking to sell them just yet. But if I'm open to selling other pairs of shoes I have if you're interested?"

Should I then move the conversation off Twitter DMs into email (I'll set up a new email account) to negotiate price etc.?

JFC... this is crazy

duckyandbunny · 08/11/2019 11:15

Ask how much he's willing to pay first!! Omg I would be in my element right now if I had Twitter and some smelly old shoes. I'm going to the MILs this afternoon I shall have a rummage there 😂

Keep us update OP

ffswhatnext · 08/11/2019 11:52

Ask him how much he is willing to spend.
To him, they might be worth more than £100. They may be worth less than £50.
Once you have for an amount then go from there. Either no deal or negotiate.
Have a minimum you are prepared to sell an item for.

If he's from America, no offence to Americans, the chances are he's pulling your leg or trying to scam you. Some do get a kick from it.

Anything vile I put on twitter for everyone to see. I am extremely honest I will share your abusive shit including your name. This really gives the abusive ones, because even in the shoe fetish you will be called some horrific names, something to think about.

Once you have sold more, you have a better understanding of the market. Look around to see what's on offer.

What makes your shoes just as special as the ones that are going for £80+. Colours, design, brand, age of show, size, the imprint on the sole how dark is it. How would describe the smell? Just some of the things they look for in a shoe.

I have customers looking for something particular and will pay a lot even when it would have been cheaper to get them made. It's not about the shoe itself, but what the shoe says to that person.

And I really didn't want to know when I was stood posting those crusty boxers 🤣

ChocolateWillies · 08/11/2019 11:56

@ffswhatnext Thanks so much. Okay, I'll ask what he's willing to pay for them. I get that I could 'out' him if he turned into a shitbag but his Twitter account is 'hidden' in the sense its one of them egg things instead of a photo and a very generic handle/name so no personal details. I'm not sure it'd be much of a threat to 'out' him.

OP posts:
ChocolateWillies · 08/11/2019 12:11

He seems to use his Twitter account to ask women for old shoes and to ask to be submissive. A lot of 'mistress' all over the place.

I might suggest we Skype a couple of times a week and I can spend an hour dominating him by calling him a twat for £20 a pop.
