Most surprisingly delicious food you’ve ever eaten?

Today I went to an Italian cooking class with Angela Hartnett - it was amazing, everything was delicious but I was a bit sceptical about pumpkin-filled pasta with crushed amaretti biscuits...

It was honestly the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time. I don’t even like pumpkin. Now seriously considering buying a pasta machine so I can make it again 😂

Would love to hear about foods that surprised you by being awesome... I’m too full to eat dinner so I’ll eat vicariously through you!

Pigeon. I nearly refused to try it but my god I'm glad I did.

Ooh I forgot to say... last weekend my BIL did an amazing dinner party for my sister’s birthday. One of the courses was hard goats cheese in a crust (for most it was ground almonds and ritz crackers but no almonds for me), fried and then drizzled with honey. It was bloody amazing. I want to eat it every day!

Spanish fried whole baby squid (puntallitas or chipirones).
Something I've made at home several times: sauted butternut squash with gnocchi. Recipe calls for quite a lot of butter, and lemon zest. It is very quick and delicious.

I still dream of the dirty fries I had on Sauchiehall St in Glasgow. Disgustingly amazing and I’ve never been able to find similar. Chips, cheese, nacho sauce, bacon... 🐷🐷
