Jeans for snake hips son???

FusionChefGeoff · 02/11/2019 13:35

7 year old DS has very slim hips and likes very skinny fit jeans.

Just tried 10 pairs on in Primark / H&M described as variously skinny and super skinny and not had any luck - even on fully tightened adjustable waist band they look like clown trousers plus very uncomfortable with all that extra fabric around his waist.

Tried girls ones - leggings / jeggings are getting close but then you lose the adjuster waistband and I'd have to get sewing and can't be arsed wit that.

I'm sure we used to get a 'slim fit super skinny' from M&S but can't see those anymore.

Any other suggestions??

I've found Asda and Vertbaudet good for my similarly sized DS.

FusionChefGeoff · 02/11/2019 21:12

Bumping for any other ideas?

I have slim waisted sons, nothing fits them especially jogging bottoms, they are all made for fat children nowadays! I thought about mincing my words but that's just the truth of it, to be honest.

My similar but a bit older son is currently wearing a pair from Next. We've had some success with H&M in the past and second Vertbaudet and other European brands.

Instagrrr · 02/11/2019 21:19

Primark in some styles are usually good for us, school trousers we buy next formal skinny slim fit and they are good too.

Agree that clothing nowadays is made for chubby kids 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s like vanity sizing

WishITookLifeSeriously · 02/11/2019 21:20

Zara always worked well when my son was younger and rake thin.

Biscuitsneeded · 02/11/2019 21:20

I hate to say it and be the mumsnet cliche but if you can wait for the Boden sale their skinny fit jeans are great, and last for ever. I never paid full price though!

dementedma · 02/11/2019 21:21

As a parent of a chubby kid in the teen years, I'm rather glad that clothes are also made to fit his build. We can't all be racing snakes.

redchocolatebutton · 02/11/2019 21:24

tumble & dry

FusionChefGeoff · 02/11/2019 21:28

I usually like 2nd hand ones as by the time they've been through the wash / drier a few times they are much tighter but I can't seem to find any at the moment and it's quite desperate now!

I've given up on joggers too Grin. He has girls leggings instead.

My skinny son gets his at Abercrombie

ForalltheSaints · 02/11/2019 21:35

He's 7, does he have to be a fashion victim for something he will grow out of in a year?

pikapikachu · 02/11/2019 21:41

A belt?

FusionChefGeoff · 02/11/2019 21:44

Fashion victim? Confused

I'd just like them to fit. That is the one and only requirement!

3 pairs of Narrow Fit Slim Leg from Vertbaudet on their way - girls and boys so hoping at least 1 style won't hang off him like he's borrowed his Dad's Grin

I have this problem. Very annoying. I bought a pair of m and s pyjamas in his size and the bottoms literally fell down as soon as he pulled them up! He is currently wearing them tied at the side with a hair band until I get round to alterations!

The skinny fit school trousers are in the fourth button in on both sides (all bunched up) despite them also having slim and regular fit.

He is slim but eats well and snacks and is in no way super skinny.

Imonlymoominafterall · 02/11/2019 21:54

H&M skinny boys jeans are really good

MrsJamin · 02/11/2019 21:55

Yeah I hate that both sons have to have bunched up waistbands with the button in the last hole, just so they stay up! It must be so uncomfortable for them. Decathlon running joggers were a better fit, at least they assume that not all children are fat nowadays.

ColdRainAgain · 02/11/2019 21:57

I'm really struggling with casual trousers at the moment, but school trousers at M&S, age down, extra long.
My 10 year old has been wearing age 6 shorts all summer. Now in age 8 extra long school trousers, and age 10-11 Next casual clown trousers.....

Demented I think we need to move to a system that doesn't assume all kids of the same height have the same waist, and start selling kids clothes like we sell adults clothes - waist X, length short, medium, long. In all honesty tho, I'd rather take up trousers which are too long than try and adjust waists of clothes.

Jemma2907 · 02/11/2019 22:02

Have you had a look at any handmade shops? I buy my sons joggings from shops like Rebels n' Rose's or Rainbow and Dinosaur. As they're handmade you can ask for the waist to be slightly smaller when being made. You could ask for a yoga type band around the waist too which helps then stay up.

Elisheva · 02/11/2019 22:06

My skinny 12 year old Ds has jeans from Matalan which seem to fit him well. I don’t know what their younger boys’ jeans are like though.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/11/2019 22:07

This is the bane of my life(I have 3 very slim sons)!

Sainsbury’s super skinny fit are good, have a bit of stretch and come in a few colours.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/11/2019 22:09

Sainsbury’s also sometimes aell skinny joggers too which fit my ds like normal joggers.

BendyBusBuggy · 02/11/2019 22:15

Have you tried the gap?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/11/2019 22:25

My DS never wore jeans for this reason .
He's nearly 20 now and still ridiculously thin hipped but long legged with it .

I found the Primark cotton jeans (rather than denim they were grey/black/navy)
Not the super skinny because he looked like he had two drinking straws on his legs!

Now he wears H&M , they do some nice slim leg ones for skinny lads .

Mixingitall · 02/11/2019 22:26

My ds1 is 9 and super lean. We buy Levi 512’s and 510’s, I buy them from a John Lewis in the sale for around £20 a pair.

He’s only just back in to trousers and wears shorts from April- Early October.

Next do slim fit school uniform and are amazing.
