Definitely, totally theoretical situation...absolutely not mucking about on Rightmove and Google trying to find where to move my family to...

But let's say you were a young working class family who a had 145k budget and could move anywhere, where would you go? Requirements being that you need at least 3 bedrooms, public transportation, schools nearby and somewhere relatively safe. We're not very fussy and open to anything! But I am absolutely overwhelmed by the options!

Plymouth. Lovely place, and v affordable. 3 hours ish to London by train, right by the sea and maybe 30 mins drive from the nearest beach. Some v middle class areas, some not great ones but plenty in the middle, and definitely masses in your budget.

Actually, I'm just about to put my house on at that price but we're a 2 bed so no good for you!

Worcester is a lovely city and you could get what you're looking for property wise there.

Or Leominster in Herefordshire

sorry blue I went off on a ramble after reading Justapatchofgrass. the post should have really name checked the pp, instead of your quote. I did think of posting after to point out it was more aimed at Justapatchofgrass but got distracted.

As it is I find Hornsea a really pleasant place, that I'd happily move to.

I agree about trains and Sunday buses, but I grew up walkin, biking, getting lifts and driving every where. Driving to the near by cities or town for work was second nature, so forget this isn't what everyone wants.

Sheffield. Great - and very green - city, fast transport links, and on the edge of the Peak District.

Thanks moobaa, I thought it was all directed at me...totally agree, good transport links aside,it's a lovely place Smile
