After having the morning from hell (electricity running out, nausea, broken burglar alarm blaring incessantly while standing outside in the rain) I realised this afternoon I've felt no movement since last night Sad

I'm 30 weeks with DC1, a girl. Sitting in maternity triage at the moment on my own as DH at work an hour away. Had the same thing last week and it was all fine but can't seem to stop my thoughts going to the worst places Sad

Oh op. Could you have just been so distracted you’ve ignored any movement?

Wishing you the best of luck for being checked over x

SleepWarrior · 29/10/2019 16:09

Hopefully the stress used up all your focus and there were kicks but you didn't register them.

You've done exactly the right thing though Flowers

Chuffingchuff · 29/10/2019 16:15

I had this a couple of times with DD, it's awful and so worrying! Your in the best place 💐

Hope everything is OK. Sorry you've had such a rubbish day.

Shallow07 · 29/10/2019 16:22

Thank you everyone ❤️ heartbeat ok but I think they are wanting to bring my next scan forward so still here, waiting to see if that will be today. It's been a truly shit day but has been so lovely to get such nice messages.

Babies tend to move less as they get bigger, as there is less space

This is not true and it can be a dangerous piece of misinformation. Here is what Tommy’s say:

From 18-24 weeks on you should feel the baby move more and more. After 32 weeks, the movements will stay roughly the same until you give birth. It is NOT TRUE that babies move less towards the end of pregnancy. You should CONTINUE to feel your baby move right up to the time you go into labour and during labour

Hope all is well, OP

Brexitstash · 29/10/2019 16:25

IAmWaggingBrenda that is dangerous and not true. Movements don't get less at the end of pregnancy. Beliefs like that lead to stillbirths.

foxychox · 29/10/2019 16:27

Good news shallow - hope your next scan is scheduled soon and that your day gets better!

Atalune · 29/10/2019 16:30

Glad to hear all is well.

Have the mentioned about where the placenta is lying? That can affect how you feel the babies movement?

Roomba · 29/10/2019 16:36

DS2 panicked me a few times like this. It was worse as I had an anterior placenta so couldn't feel movements as well anyway. Twice they were concerned about his heartbeat when I was monitored too, saying it was 'sinusoidal' (?) and they'd need to do something if he didn't perk up in the next few minutes. At which point DS would wake up and go berserk kicking me like mad. He knew how to scare me!

I'd like to say it was because he is a calm, well sleeping child. But he's barely stopped moving or slept in the last seven years since birth...

Shallow07 · 29/10/2019 16:37

Thank you ♥️ placenta at the back so in theory I should be able to feel more. I have to come back at 9 am for more monitoring and they will try and get me a scan asap tomorrow. Don't know what this means but can't help feeling afraid.

Good luck. Flowers. I hope all is well.

mamandematribu · 29/10/2019 16:43

💐 with my littlest the midwife always took ages to find her heart beat during checkups because she was so active (but too small to feel the actual movements at that point) I absolutely dreaded midwife check ups because of this.

With my eldest she didn't have much interest in kicking, except for about 2 hours at the same time each evening. She was a rather lazy bumpGrin
Good luck op

JenniferM1989 · 29/10/2019 16:45

I didn't feel movement for a whole day after being stressed out and running around. I went and got baby checked out (as everyone should, movement is so important) and as soon as I lay on that bed, he moved. Hoping the same for you ♥️

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 29/10/2019 16:45

It's a gazillion years ago but my DD was a very still baby. I didn't realise how still till I had DS who was the archetypal churner. It doesn't necessarily signify anything bad. She was breech though, so could be position? Fingers crossed for you.

JenniferM1989 · 29/10/2019 16:48

Just read your update. They are making absolutely certain everything is ok, that's the best thing. Heartbeat is good so a positive sign 🙂

HJWT · 29/10/2019 16:50

@Shallow07 I had reduced movement with DS and he still didn't move when I was being monitored at all! They booked me in for a scan the next day just to check size and water level etc! He is 2 weeks old now 😄

chartreuse · 29/10/2019 16:51

I had a panicked trip to hospital when I could feel no movement at 30 plus weeks. On the scan we could see him moving about but I couldn't feel anything. He was born on his due date and is 21 now. I hope you get a chance to rest after your stressful day and fingers crossed it all turns out to be perfectly fine!

Dowser · 29/10/2019 18:45

My daughter kicked once a week..and she was born fit and healthy
Hopefully all is well

ChilledBee · 29/10/2019 18:47

In terms of how movements change, I'd say as they get bigger, it is less clear kicks and more pushes and rolls. I don't think it slows down so much as changes.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 29/10/2019 21:24

Glad to hear all seemed ok today op. I’d try not to worry about them doing a scan tomorrow - after periods of reduced movements it’s common to want to check on the health of the umbilical cord, fluid, size of the baby etc. I was in and out of hospital before my 3 week old ds was born and had several scans to check on him. I’d take it as them being thorough.

Best of luck, I hope all is well x

sniffysnifferson · 29/10/2019 22:49

That is such dangerous advice. Babies do not move less as they get bigger. Àny change in movement from what is normal for your baby needs checking asap.

ExcitedForFuture · 29/10/2019 23:02

I'm sure they are just being thorough OP.

Horsemad · 29/10/2019 23:12

DS2 kicked when I was having a scan and I didn't feel it! The sonographer asked me if I'd felt it, as I'd told her I hadn't felt much movement and I had to admit I hadn't, yet she'd felt it through the probe!

I hope you are reassured when you have the scan tomorrow.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/10/2019 23:14

Hope all is well OP.
