'Stand up' pudding for 20 - what would you make?

I have offered to make a pudding for a sports club event (adults). Someone else is making apple crumble. Has to be something that can be eaten standing up with a fork! I'm feeling uninspired. Not cake. Thanks!

Tiramisu, trifle.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 28/10/2019 07:13

Profiteroles?

MajesticWhine · 28/10/2019 07:14

Cheesecake

Not trifle. Cheesecake for 20 sounds complicated? Profiteroles would be good but haven't made for about 25 years

A couple of pavlovas with berries and freshly whipped cream

Iamboudicca · 28/10/2019 07:19

chocolate brownies? an open tart - Apple bakewell is delicious and a bit different.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/10/2019 07:19

Eton mess? Buy those individual meringue nests, then make a topping of broken meringue, chantily cream and fresh mixed berries and dollop on top. Mint leaf for Dec.

Can be eaten by hand or fork.

muddledmidget · 28/10/2019 07:19

Bread and butter pudding or pavlova

BillywilliamV · 28/10/2019 07:19

Another vote for profiteroles..or just a massive gooey chocolate cake

RedJoan · 28/10/2019 07:20

What about a really rich brownie and something like apple crumble flapjack that can be cut into small squares. Finger food if you want it to be or if you put small bowls out and whipped cream it could be a proper dessert.

Trewser · 28/10/2019 07:20

Pavlova might be a good shout. I could make 2. Drawn to tiramisu also!

Hmm might have to have a few practice runs Grin

If you need to eat it easily I'd make mini-tarts. Chocolate would be my preference but I'd have to practice a few different flavours.

Trewser · 28/10/2019 07:27

Yeah was thinking of a lemony tart. It's just the quantities really, I've never made anything for more than 10!

There's a chocolate salted caramel tart on BBC Good Food site, it's extremely rich so you only need thin slices. You could make two and it would easily serve 20.

MyEnormousTurnip · 28/10/2019 07:27

I wouldn’t go for pavlova as it can be deliciously chewy and hard to eat just with a fork. Unless you make guaranteed crumbly meringue of course.

Trewser · 28/10/2019 07:27

Ooh Hallin that sounds good.

Trewser · 28/10/2019 07:28

turnip yes i was worried about that!

1busybee · 28/10/2019 07:30

I would second Eton mess - like a broken pavlova so doesn’t need to be a perfect looking meringue and already smashed so easy to eat standing. Also normally very popular.

BikeRunSki · 28/10/2019 07:31

Brownies

Trewser · 28/10/2019 07:36

Theres a boring slightly political reason why i can't make brownies!

I'm leaning towards the choc salted caramel tart although the recipe on good food has nuts which i want to avoid.

Lemon posset in a small disposable glass, super easy to make and saves on washing up. The only drawback would be the expensive ingredients. recipes.lidl.co.uk/Recipes/Lemon-posset the Lidl link has an ingredient calculator that works out quantities for you so you can set it to 20.

HariboStarmix · 28/10/2019 07:44

Baklava. Shop bought pastry, obviously! Just make a couple of big rectangles then cut it up... easy!
