Best way to make money when you can’t get a job

One thing I DEFINITELY do NOT want to do is any kind of selling thing (is it mlms?) well younique etc ....

So, what are my options. Cannot find any kind of part time job. Do I start something myself ASAP (self employed something.....cleaner ?) whilst looking all the time for something?
Is there something I’ve not thought of ?

Loads of options on the earn £10 a day threads. I will see if I can link.

EmploymentIssues · 27/10/2019 16:00

Thankyou that sounds helpful

Matched betting.

CaptainTurdseye · 27/10/2019 16:06

Second matched betting

EmploymentIssues · 27/10/2019 16:10

I’ll have to find out what that is ? Haven’t heard of it

What are the obstacles to you finding work? Childcare? Health reasons? Just to get an idea of what suggestions to make.

TheoriginalLEM · 27/10/2019 16:12

Don't do matched betting if you can't afford to lose the money.

homeworkery · 27/10/2019 16:14

Here we go. You don't lose any money doing matched betting as it's not gambling.

Guaranteed profit

EmploymentIssues · 27/10/2019 16:21

Childcare a massive issue. Health not great but tbh I can push through as much as possible

Looked for evening work but nothing available. Just nothing suitable (no qualifications except a couple of GCSEs either)
The supermarkets have no vacancies
All cleaning agencies have enough staff

How do you not loose money? Genuine question?

PandaPaws99 · 27/10/2019 16:29

Sign up to Indeed on your mobile. Use their CV template to fill in your details. Check their listings every day. It's free and I think really good. I got a job through them after 16 years as a SAHM, in a job I had no experience or qualifications in. Still there a year later and love it.

Matched betting is good for risk-free tax-free money BUT you do need to have £300-400 available as 'collateral'. I do it at weekends only and usually make £70-90 over two days. Other people make loads more by doing casinos as well but I find that too boring. Look here for a good starting point https://www.oddsmonkey.com/matched-betting/how-it-works/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgNXtBRC6ARIsAIPP7Rv7kYvg5U4pgCEK8DXeeH1oUzzpTaaYpuaP4Is-DUJ5-JOQL03LRAaArkeEALww_wcB

I had health and childcare issues a few years back and starting cleaning holiday cottages freelance. If you’re reliable and do a decent job you’ll get more work. I’m still a self employed cleaner 12 years on, it’s not where I wanted to be career wise but I’m earning money and if I have a bad day health wise I can work around it without having to face the wrath of ‘bosses’.

EmploymentIssues · 27/10/2019 16:38

I don’t have 3-400 aside so may need to look for another option!

OP posts:
EmploymentIssues · 27/10/2019 16:40

I think something like being a self employed cleaner may be the best option but is the set up difficult ? I assume is it hmrc Id need to register with ?

I recently tried matched betting, I used Team Profit start with £10 tutorials and I made about £80 in a month, unless you have cash to use as a float it takes ages to build up profit as you constantly have to wait up to 3 working days to withdraw your 'winnings' to use on the next sign up offer. I gave up in the end

homeworkery · 27/10/2019 17:03

You can start with as little as you like. The more you start with the faster you will build up your float. I started with £25. You should easily make £400 from the start up offers with that and can make hundreds per week from reloads.

It's risk free as long as you do it properly so make sure you understand it first. Guaranteed profits. I don't do casino or low risk because I don't want to risk any winnings and it's boring

quincejamplease · 27/10/2019 17:14

Have you checked supermarkets again since Christmas recruiting started?

For cleaning you would have to register as self employed with HMRC and submit tax returns.

What about ironing? (Same deal re HMRC)

CaptainTurdseye · 27/10/2019 17:15

You don’t need 100s to start, I started with 10 4ish years ago. Yes it’s easier to make more with a bigger float but you can do it without, it just takes longer.

There’s a long running thread in money

And also check out the 10 pound a day thread https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legalmoneyy_matters/3724906-Oct19-Part-2-Earn-10-a-day-thread-Winter-Is-Coming

heartsonacake · 27/10/2019 17:16

Try your local McDonalds. Always looking for staff, flexible on hours and a great employer.

YolandaN · 27/10/2019 17:20

As a self employed cleaner I’m not registered as a self employed business I just declare my earnings yearly and pay my national insurance, I don’t earn enough to pay tax but it’s best to keep everything above board.

UnitedRoad · 27/10/2019 17:30

My husband does matched betting, and started with £80. He’s made over £2000 in under a year, just spending a few hours on a Saturday morning doing it. It might be worth trying it as a hobby.

All areas are different but here Supermarkets are currently recruiting, and kids play centres, coffee shops and I heard Wetherspoons are looking for people too.

CaptainTurdseye · 27/10/2019 17:50

@YolandaN you do need to register if you earn over 1000 whether you need to pay tax or not and it’s only recently that this came in to force- before you needed to declare all earnings no matter how small.

RoseMartha · 27/10/2019 17:53

Ironing lady you can advertise in various places in your town. And you can go to persons house or do it at your house.

neighbourhoodwitch · 27/10/2019 17:56

If you are interested in matched betting, would recommend you look at the "team profit' website as a starting point. V good.

YolandaN · 27/10/2019 18:10

I’m registered with HMRC and send in a self assessment tax return each year, is that what you mean?
