How many Yorkshire puddings would you make?

Doing roast beef etc for 5 adults and 2 kids. I feel that a round dozen probably won’t be enough as DS is a big fan. No adult would want fewer than 2, surely?!

How many would you do for that number of people? I use a muffin tin.

Do a dozen then just munch on them tomorrow too Grin

Mammyloveswine · 27/10/2019 09:10

I meant two dozen!

RosemarysBroomstick · 27/10/2019 09:10

Well in a muffin tin, they’ll be nice and big so two each would be fine. Nice to have spares though.

Two each is fine but the kids will want 2. So that means 14. And if I’m going to dirty a second tin... ?

2 each. Use ramekins for the extras that don't fit on the tray

ChristmasSeacow · 27/10/2019 09:16

Ooh, that’s a very good idea!

I have those really GIANT muffin tins with holes like giant mugs! ...so I only ever do one per person....or six and I make dh share with me if we have 7 to dinner.

I cba with the tray faffing if you have to do an extra set.

SingingLily · 27/10/2019 09:28

You can always freeze any that are left over, unlikely though that may be Smile

Frozen homemade Yorkshire puddings beat frozen supermarket ones every time and they just need to be put in a hot oven for 8-10 minutes.

Nottobesoldseparately · 27/10/2019 09:41

I don't eat them Shock

Or roast potatoes ShockShock

And I'm from Yorkshire!!

To filling, I prefer a fuckton of veg and gravy instead!!

So, I'd say 1 each if done in a muffin tin. But appreciate I'm hugely in the minority!

doradoo · 27/10/2019 09:43

I'd say at least two dozen - I'd much prefer Yorkshires to potatoes and ds2 eats them like there's no tomorrow!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 27/10/2019 09:44

@SingingLily I am always saying I am going to make a pile for the freezer, but I never do.

I should cos I quite like them with casseroles which i know is a bit odd, but its like a fake fancy toad in the hole if you have sausage casserole :o

DownToTheSeaAgain · 27/10/2019 09:45

For my family of 6 x2 adults,x3 teenagers x1 pre teen I do x2 cake tins worth - so x24. They always all go.

Spied · 27/10/2019 09:46

I'd do 3 each for adults ( just in case) and 2 each for kids. Cheap enough.

Witchend · 27/10/2019 09:48

In our house. Think of the maximum number they might eat. Then double it, or possibly triple it.

You can always have spares with syrup for pudding.

Collision · 27/10/2019 09:49

I would make about 250 as they will be eaten

h0rsewithn0name · 27/10/2019 09:49

I do two for each adult and child.
1 for each adult that is healthy eating!
1 for each baby.

It requires a sum each week and it's far too complicated. I almost always make two trays and freeze the left over, for those annoying weeks that I want 13 Yorkshires.

SingingLily · 27/10/2019 09:52

I quite like them with casseroles which i know is a bit odd,

Not odd in the least, MsMightyTitan Smile

Casseroles, sausages, roast lamb, roast chicken, in fact anything with gravy - there are very few meals that can't be brightened up with the addition of a homemade YP, especially on cold dark nights like these....

ColdRainAgain · 27/10/2019 09:55

2 adults and 2 kids can finish tray of 12 here.... I dont do potatoes if I do yorkshires tho.

ColdRainAgain · 27/10/2019 09:56

Oops, sorry, so I'd say 24 yorkshires.

SpookilyBadOooooooh · 27/10/2019 09:56

I’d do two trays

I’m eating keto so none for me 😢😢

LoveGrowsWhere · 27/10/2019 10:03

For something so cheap they're always regarded as a treat. Two for every man, woman & child. They will be eaten.

Yorkshire pudding with a stew so much better than a dumpling.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 27/10/2019 10:08

No adult wanting fewer than 2? You taking the piss?

Im happy with nothing but Yorkshires on my plate!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/10/2019 10:12

I never considered myself parsimonious, however, after reading this I clearly am, 24 Yorkshires for 4 people?? I do one large on each and a couple of extras.

I am from Yorkshire too!

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2019 10:12

I would do 12 that size for 3 or use, they all get eaten.

We've started keeping foil trays from other meals and using these for individual bigger Yorkshire puddings, it works really well as they get nice and hot.

CaptainTurdseye · 27/10/2019 10:26

24 leftovers for pudding with syrup and ice cream
