This has caused quite the debate in my family this morning as no one agrees with my opinion!

Glad to see lots agree with me! It came up as I saw a man with a large dog (I'm useless with breeds) off a lead tell his dog to sit outside a M&S in my town. I went in bought clothes for DS and had coffee and cake in the cafe came out dog still there!! Said to my mum he must be insane to leave a dog off a lead for that long in a busy town centre and she said it was fine as he was clearly well trained. But good training doesn't stop them being nicked!

The little dog that was stolen outside the hospital has now been found, thankfully. He was 15 years old, so elderly dogs are still at risk.
Stolen dogs are getting to be a big problem now.
Please dont leave your dogs unattended. These people are ruthless, not worth the risk.

Yes at my local supermarket but only because they have a manned pet stop which is great.
Anywhere else is a massive no

No because if he disappeared The whole family would be bereft.

Sorry I don't believe you. You said you had the unpopular belief and as we can see its pretty unanimous that no one would.. You also didn't come back to clarify until I said you just be the one who's leave your dog.

Absolutely not, many dogs are stolen from outside shops never to be seen again.
Leave the dog at home.

Literally never. No matter where I was or how 'safe' you think somewhere is. Not worth the risk

@MellowMelly I agree, every single dog I have ever seen tied up outside a shop looks worried sick, with its eyes fixed on the door.
